• Gory (age rating higher than 12 or PG-13)
• Male gaze (Widens appeal to male audience)
• Intertextuality: Laurie Strode and "Loomis" (Halloween, Scream, Psycho)
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK
STEPS TAKEN TO GET AUDIENCE
FEEDBACK
• Showed the rough cut to a varied audience
• The audience vary in age, gender and ethnic background
• Made a questionnaire for audience to fill out
• Asked many questions about knowledge on Slasher movies, thoughts on rough cut,
and favourite types of film genre etc.
• Analysed what the audience feedback told us about the audience we should
be aiming our movie too such as what ages prefer this genre and style of
movie, which gender may be more interested etc.
• We will also be asking simple questions in our tutor groups to get a large
amount of answers such as:
• How old were you when you first watched an 18 rated movie?
• Do you still buy DVD’s/ Blueray?
• Do you watch movies on your phone?
EVIDENCE OF FEEDBACK
• The questionnaire we have created:
EVIDENCE OF FEEDBACK
Pictures showing audience feedback:
SUMMARY OF RESPONSES
• Some oppositional reading: "Some parts were comedic...”
• This shows us our verisimilitude is not good enough as our cut is not meant to
be comedic
• Santa on the screen was very effective (Some got the Jigsaw reference,
Intertextuality)
• Acting could be better, verisimilitude not achieved
• Timing was a bit off
• On average people rated it a 6/10 in likability
• Everyone recommended we used eerie suspenseful music in the opening
• Many recommended violins or piano with long suspenseful notes
BBFC AGE RATING
GUIDELINES
Here are the guidelines given for age ratings by the BBFC,
only 15 and 18 have been included as they are the most likely
age ratings for our cut and a slasher movie
CURRENT CUT REVIEW
• Negatives:
• We dislike the establishing shot and will
change it to a more genre specific one.
• We need to experiment with different titles
• Improve false scare (doesn’t reflect convention
well)
• Stalking needs to be change and fixed
• Add cross cut with final girl in garage
• We need to shorten some cutes (clothing,
going down to garage)
• Maybe include an ellipsis
• Positives:
• Reflect the scream queen idea well
• The man on the TV screen is very well done
• Attempted to cover the stalking convention
• Attempted false scare
