MAY 5, 2017
Objectives
Getting third grade students to speak openly and free with some support, in order to achieve
greater communication skills in both languages
Discover the student’s strengths & weakness in the speaking area
Gain encouragement and motivation to excel in both Spanish and English
Assignment: Show & Tell
Students will bring an object that they could present and
speak to the class about
The student will then present the object and state 3
reasons as to why it is important to them in both Spanish
& English
They will use words that can describe the object in both
languages
The Audience will ask two questions: 1 Spanish & 1
English, the student will answer the question in the
language that was asked
Reflection
The students will provide a half page reflection on the assignment.
They will write about their thoughts, and how they felt speaking both language
They will reflect on which language they prefer to speak and why?
They will answer why they feel more comfortable speaking a certain language.
Grading
Criteria
The assignment is not based on a letter grade, but it is
worth full participation points as long as the student tries
to engage in the assignment
We want to build encouragement, rather than discourage
students by a bad letter grade
A bad grade will only discourage the student from speaking
English/Spanish
