Malware Protection
Malware protection use to be known simply as virus protection. We have learned that
viruses are one form of malicious software and that a broader term to describe the
multitude of threats and the protection mechanism is needed. This is why the term
Malware is broader categorization of the threat and also the protection. Malware is a
portmanteau of the terms Malicious Software. Different malware protection packages
can cover a range of threats including viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, adware, rootkits
to name a few.
As malware has evolved so has malware protection. Malware protection packages (MPP)
have evolved to provide more comprehensive protection mechanisms; including
firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Protection Systems (IDS/IPS), remote and central
management of system clusters, heterogeneous system protection and management,
signature and heuristic scanning, sandboxing to name just a few features.
It is important to understand that no one Malware Protection Package will find all pieces
of malware. Each package has its strengths and weaknesses. It is a good idea to always
have some form of malware protection running on your system in real time. However,
should you become infected it is useful to have an alternative strategy making use of
other scanners that you can run manually.
Free or Paid for Scanners
There is an adage that “you get what you pay for”. Generally this is true, but over time I
have found that there are some excellent free malware scanners that for single user
systems do a nice job. Some major requirements I have for a malware scanner are: it is
easy to run; does not require a lot of user interaction, uses little system resources, does a
good job finding and removing threats and automatically updates its signature database.
The following is not an endorsement for paid versus free scanners. It represents my
experiences for what they are worth.
I use to have a paid for Norton subscription. I found that over time the system footprint
for Norton grew which meant Norton required more CPU and overall system resources
for its real-time scanning processes. I think Norton has got better based on recent
experience I have with Windows 8 however at the time I had several performance
problems related to Norton. This got me to switch to free AVG. I used AVG for a while
and had real good luck, until AVG’s advertising got obnoxious. I decided to remove
AVG and found that process very difficult. I finally succeeded and then moved to using
free Avast. I have been using Avast for several years having very good luck.
I then started testing various malware scanners on virtual machines. This got me familiar
with Microsoft Security Essentials. This is a free product offered by Microsoft that nicely
integrates with Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. I like the simplicity of its

Malware Protection
Malware protection use to be known simply as virus protection. We have learned that
viruses are one form of malicious software and that a broader term to describe the
multitude of threats and the protection mechanism is needed. This is why the term
Malware is broader categorization of the threat and also the protection. Malware is a
portmanteau of the terms Malicious Software. Different malware protection packages
can cover a range of threats including viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, adware, rootkits
to name a few.
As malware has evolved so has malware protection. Malware protection packages (MPP)
have evolved to provide more comprehensive protection mechanisms; including
firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Protection Systems (IDS/IPS), remote and central
management of system clusters, heterogeneous system protection and management,
signature and heuristic scanning, sandboxing to name just a few features.
It is important to understand that no one Malware Protection Package will find all pieces
of malware. Each package has its strengths and weaknesses. It is a good idea to always
have some form of malware protection running on your system in real time. However,
should you become infected it is useful to have an alternative strategy making use of
other scanners that you can run manually.
Free or Paid for Scanners
There is an adage that “you get what you pay for”. Generally this is true, but over time I
have found that there are some excellent free malware scanners that for single user
systems do a nice job. Some major requirements I have for a malware scanner are: it is
easy to run; does not require a lot of user interaction, uses little system resources, does a
good job finding and removing threats and automatically updates its signature database.
The following is not an endorsement for paid versus free scanners. It represents my
experiences for what they are worth.
I use to have a paid for Norton subscription. I found that over time the system footprint
for Norton grew which meant Norton required more CPU and overall system resources
for its real-time scanning processes. I think Norton has got better based on recent
experience I have with Windows 8 however at the time I had several performance
problems related to Norton. This got me to switch to free AVG. I used AVG for a while
and had real good luck, until AVG’s advertising got obnoxious. I decided to remove
AVG and found that process very difficult. I finally succeeded and then moved to using
free Avast. I have been using Avast for several years having very good luck.
I then started testing various malware scanners on virtual machines. This got me familiar
with Microsoft Security Essentials. This is a free product offered by Microsoft that nicely
integrates with Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems. I like the simplicity of its

The X blocks represent a blocked square and form the walls of the maze. Let us consider mazes
that
have only one entrance and one exit, as in our example. Beginning at the entrance at the top left
side of
the maze, find a path to the exit at the bottom right side. You can move only up, down, left, or
right.
Square is either clear or blocked by an X character.
Let a two-dimensional array represent the maze. Use a stack data structure to find a path through
the
maze. Some mazes might have more than one successful path, while others might have no path.
Hints:
The primary consideration is that if you reach a dead end, you need to be able to backtrack
along the path to the point where you can try a different path. The stack data structure makes it
possible to store the current path and backtrack if necessary. Every clear position visited in the
current path is pushed to the stack and if a dead end is reached, the previous position is popped
from the stack to backtrack. You need to have a loop that begins with the start position and
pushes it into the stack then moves to a neighboring cell until either the goal position is reached,
or the stack becomes empty.
Make sure to mark each clear array cell you move to as visited to avoid checking it again and
getting stuck in an infinite loop. For example, each array cell can have three different values: X
for blocked, V for visited, and for clear.
A dead end is an array cell whose all neighbors are either blocked or already visited.

they are also looking for tools that provide realistic renderings and physics simulations and

manner.
Robots have been a mainstay element in science fiction for more than a hundred years. In fact,
the term robot was coined in the 1920 play R.U.R. (Rossums Universal Robots) by Karel apek, a
Czech writer. The word robot finds its origin in the Czech phrase robota, which refers to forced
labor or servitude. In this way, even the origin of the word robot speaks to their role in science
fiction. Throughout the science fiction genre, robots are controlled by their human creators.
Robots are built and programmed to fulfill certain roles or task. Their origin in the genre is
closely linked to the Industrial Revolution, which saw a shift from human labor to machine
manufacturing. How robotic technology could backfire on humans is a major theme in the genre.
From the first novel to introduce the concept of robots (without ever using the word robot) to
more modern offerings, robots have been an entertainment staple for decades.

On April 30, 1970, RKO-Stanley Warner Theatres, Inc. [RKO], as seller, entered into an
agreement of sale with Jack Jenofsky and Ralph Graziano, as purchasers. This agreement
contemplated the sale of the Kent Theatre, a parcel of improved commercial real estate located at
Cumberland and Kensington Avenues in Philadelphia, for a total purchase price of $70,000.
Settlement was originally scheduled for September 30, 1970, and, at the request of Jenofsky and
Graziano, continued twice, first to October 16, 1970, and then to October 21, 1970. However,
Jenofsky and Graziano failed to complete settlement on the last scheduled date.
Subsequently, on November 13, 1970, RKO filed a complaint in equity seeking judicial
enforcement of the agreement of sale. Although Jenofsky, in his answer to the complaint, denied
personal liability for the performance of the agreement, the chancellor, after a hearing, entered a
decree granting the requested relief sought by RKO. * * * This appeal ensued.
At the time of the execution of this agreement, Jenofsky and Graziano were engaged in
promoting the formation of a corporation to be known as Kent Enterprises, Inc. Reflecting these
efforts, Paragraph 19 of the agreement, added by counsel for Jenofsky and Graziano, recited:
It is understood by the parties hereto that it is the intention of the Purchaser to incorporate. Upon
condition that such incorporation be completed by closing, all agreements, covenants, and
warranties contained herein shall be construed to have been made between Seller and the
resultant corporation and all documents shall reflect same.
In fact, Jenofsky and Graziano did file Articles of Incorporation for Kent Enterprises, Inc., with
the State Corporation Bureau on October 9, 1971, twelve days prior to the scheduled settlement
date. Jenofsky now contends the inclusion of Paragraph 19 in the agreement and the subsequent
filing of incorporation papers, released him from any personal liability resulting from the non-
performance of the agreement.
The legal relationship of Jenofsky to Kent Enterprises, Inc., at the date of the execution of the
agreement of sale was that of promoter. As such, he is subject to the general rule that a promoter,
although he may assume to act on behalf of a projected corporation and not for himself, will be
held personally liable on contracts made by him for the benefit of a corporation he intends to
organize. This personal liability will continue even after the contemplated corporation is formed
and has received the benefits of the contract, unless there is a novation or other agreement to
release liability.
The imposition of personal liability upon a promoter where that promoter has contracted on
behalf of a corporation is based upon the principle that one who assumes to act for a nonexistent
principal is himself liable on the contract in the absence of an agreement to the contrary. * * *

these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
