 Working procedure

 Features
 Advantages & Drawbacks
 Applications
 Conclusion
 Reference
 Red Tacton was introduced by Nippon
Telegraph and Telephone Corporation(NTT)
who combined TACTON “touch-act-on”
Meaning “action triggered by touching” and
RED - It is an auspicious colour according to
Japanese culture for warmth and love creating
the name Red Tacton.
 It is a technology that, uses the surface of the
human body as a safe, high speed network
transmission path.
 Red Tacton is a new Human Area Network
technology.
 It gives us safe and high speed network
transmission.
 Red Tacton uses weak electric fields on the
surface of the body as a transmission medium.
 A transmission path is formed at the moment a
part of the human body comes in contact with a
Red Tacton transceiver. Physically separating
ends the contact and thus ends communication
How it works
Red Tracton relies upon the principle that the optical
properties of an electro-optic crystal can vary according to
the changes of a weak electric field.
Block diagram of red Tacton
transceiver
Working Procedure
 Transmitting transceiver creates a change in the
field
 Some field from human body dissipates into
earth
 Electric field is received using sensing
technology
 Receiving transceiver recognizes the change in
the electric field
 sensing technology measures the weak electric
fields induced.
 Electro-optical crystal uses laser to convert and
read the signal
Principle
 The naturally occurring electric field induced on
the surface of the human body dissipates into the
earth as shown in fig. Therefore, this electric field
is exceptionally faint and unstable.
 The photonic electric field sensor developed by
NTT enables weak electric fields to be measured
by detecting changes in the optical properties of
an electro-optic crystal with a laser beam.
 The transmitting and receiving electrodes of the
Red Tacton transceiver are completely covered
with insulating film, so the body of the person
acting as the transmission medium is completely
insulated. This makes it impossible for current to
flow into a person’s body from the transceiver.
Security
 The transmitting and receiving electrodes of
the RedTacton transceiver are completely
covered with insulating film
 When communication occur, dis placement
current is generated by the electrons in the
body because the body is subjected to minute
electrical fields. However, such displacement
currents are very common everyday
occurrences to which we are all subjected.
 You decide what to share with whom and what
devices you communicate.
Features
Touch
Broadband & Interactive
Any Media
Touch
Touching, gripping, sitting, walking,
stepping and other human movements can
be the triggers for unlocking or locking,
starting or stopping equipment, or
obtaining data
Broadband & Interactive
Duplex, interactive communication is possible
at a maximum speed of 10Mbps. Because
the transmission path is on the surface of the
body, transmission speed does not
deteriorate in congested areas where many
people are communicating at the same time.
 Maximum communication speed may be
more than 10Mbps depending on the usage
environment.
Media
In addition to the human body, various
conductors and dielectrics can be used as
transmission media. Conductors and
dielectrics may also be used in
combination
Advantages
 Data transfer is faster and easier through this technology
 Data loss during transfer is less
 Use of minimum amount of power(of some milli volt
range)
 Security is more
Drawbacks
 It has no compelling applications that aren’t already
available
 Too costly
 It can be useful within few centimeters only
Applications
Personalisation of Automobiles
Intuitive operationsUser Verification Management
Wearable
Military Applications :
 A Redtacton transceiver can be implanted in the gun
and programmed to a transceiver worn by a soldier so
that only the particular soldier could fire the weapon.
 This can reduce the black market of the weapons and
the misuse of stolen weapons can be reduced
Conclusion
We conclude that, when we compare
Red Tacton with other technology
present today it can give a better
performance over others
And we can say that to connect the
network with in short distances Red
Tacton is best.
In this technology there is no problem of
hackers as our body is itself a media.
