Fiona Hall
(b. 1953)
• Fiona Margaret Hall
is one of Australia's
leading
contemporary artists.
• She first emerged in
the 1970s as a
photographer, but
during the 1980s
transitioned to using
a diverse range of art
forms.
• Her art forms
include sculpture,
painting, installation,
garden design and
video.
The core theme throughout Hall's work is
the relationship between nature and culture.
Hall grew up in Sydney's
southern suburb of Oatley, close
to bush land. It was a natural
environment enjoyed by the Hall
family who went bushwalking
and camping regularly.
‘Medicine bundle for
the non-born child’,
1993 – 94
These clothes are made
from recycled Coke cans.
Did you know that Coca
Cola was first used as a
medicine, like a vitamin
tonic, in North America?
People have not always
thought that too much
cola is bad for your
health! They thought it
was good for you, just
like the warm baby
clothes that the artist has
made.
