This report takes a look into the patenting activity around gallium Nitride uncovering the companies, inventors, and key applications.
GaN is a binary III-V direct bandgap semiconductor commonly used in LEDs. Its wide-band gap of 3.4 eV affords its special properties for applications in optoelectronic, high-power and high-frequency devices. Because GaN offers very high breakdown voltages, high electron mobility, and saturation velocity it is also an ideal candidate for high-power and high-temperature microwave applications like RF power amplifiers at microwave frequencies and high-voltage switching devices for power grids. Solutions that use GaN-based RF transistors are also replacing the magnetrons used in microwave ovens.
Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistor models have evolved from GaAs (gallium arsenide) transistor models; however there are many advantages GaN offers:
• Higher operating voltage (over 100-V breakdown)
• Higher operating temperature (over 150°C channel temperature)
• Higher power density (5 to 30 W/mm)
• Durable and crack-resistant material
GaN devices are often grown on SiC (silicon carbide) substrates, but to achieve lower-cost GaN devices, they can be grown on sapphire and silicon wafers. GaN’s wide bandgap allows for higher breakdown voltages and operation at high temperatures. The high thermal conductivity of SiC makes it a better substrate than silicon for power amplifier applications that require good heat sinking.
Plasma Antennas Ltd is a UK-based company founded in 2001 that develops multi-beam antenna technologies using plasma devices. Optimizing Gradle Builds - Gradle DPE Tour Berlin 2024Sinan KOZAK
Sinan from the Delivery Hero mobile infrastructure engineering team shares a deep dive into performance acceleration with Gradle build cache optimizations. Sinan shares their journey into solving complex build-cache problems that affect Gradle builds. By understanding the challenges and solutions found in our journey, we aim to demonstrate the possibilities for faster builds. The case study reveals how overlapping outputs and cache misconfigurations led to significant increases in build times, especially as the project scaled up with numerous modules using Paparazzi tests. The journey from diagnosing to defeating cache issues offers invaluable lessons on maintaining cache integrity without sacrificing functionality.

CHINA’S GEO-ECONOMIC OUTREACH IN CENTRAL ASIAN COUNTRIES AND FUTURE PROSPECTjpsjournal1
The rivalry between prominent international actors for dominance over Central Asia's hydrocarbon
reserves and the ancient silk trade route, along with China's diplomatic endeavours in the area, has been
referred to as the "New Great Game." This research centres on the power struggle, considering
geopolitical, geostrategic, and geoeconomic variables. Topics including trade, political hegemony, oil
politics, and conventional and nontraditional security are all explored and explained by the researcher.
Using Mackinder's Heartland, Spykman Rimland, and Hegemonic Stability theories, examines China's role
in Central Asia. This study adheres to the empirical epistemological method and has taken care of
objectivity. This study analyze primary and secondary research documents critically to elaborate role of
china’s geo economic outreach in central Asian countries and its future prospect. China is thriving in trade,
pipeline politics, and winning states, according to this study, thanks to important instruments like the
Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Belt and Road Economic Initiative. According to this study,
China is seeing significant success in commerce, pipeline politics, and gaining influence on other
governments. This success may be attributed to the effective utilisation of key tools such as the Shanghai
Cooperation Organisation and the Belt and Road Economic Initiative.
Embedded machine learning-based road conditions and driving behavior monitoringIJECEIAES
Car accident rates have increased in recent years, resulting in losses in human lives, properties, and other financial costs. An embedded machine learning-based system is developed to address this critical issue. The system can monitor road conditions, detect driving patterns, and identify aggressive driving behaviors. The system is based on neural networks trained on a comprehensive dataset of driving events, driving styles, and road conditions. The system effectively detects potential risks and helps mitigate the frequency and impact of accidents. The primary goal is to ensure the safety of drivers and vehicles. Collecting data involved gathering information on three key road events: normal street and normal drive, speed bumps, circular yellow speed bumps, and three aggressive driving actions: sudden start, sudden stop, and sudden entry. The gathered data is processed and analyzed using a machine learning system designed for limited power and memory devices. The developed system resulted in 91.9% accuracy, 93.6% precision, and 92% recall. The achieved inference time on an Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense with a 32-bit CPU running at 64 MHz is 34 ms and requires 2.6 kB peak RAM and 139.9 kB program flash memory, making it suitable for resource-constrained embedded systems.
Comparative analysis between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquapon...bijceesjournal
The aquaponic system of planting is a method that does not require soil usage. It is a method that only needs water, fish, lava rocks (a substitute for soil), and plants. Aquaponic systems are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Its use not only helps to plant in small spaces but also helps reduce artificial chemical use and minimizes excess water use, as aquaponics consumes 90% less water than soil-based gardening. The study applied a descriptive and experimental design to assess and compare conventional and reconstructed aquaponic methods for reproducing tomatoes. The researchers created an observation checklist to determine the significant factors of the study. The study aims to determine the significant difference between traditional aquaponics and reconstructed aquaponics systems propagating tomatoes in terms of height, weight, girth, and number of fruits. The reconstructed aquaponics system’s higher growth yield results in a much more nourished crop than the traditional aquaponics system. It is superior in its number of fruits, height, weight, and girth measurement. Moreover, the reconstructed aquaponics system is proven to eliminate all the hindrances present in the traditional aquaponics system, which are overcrowding of fish, algae growth, pest problems, contaminated water, and dead fish.

Common sources of SPD failures
TOV – Sustained overvoltages of the network (50/60 Hz) with
significant duration and amplitude. Causes include switching
resonance, system faults, loss of neutral conductor etc…)
Dissipative effects – Repetitive surges of short duration,
resulting in long-term degradation of the SPD
Destructive effects – Surges exceeding the max rating of the
SPD, resulting in immediate equipment failure

ProLEC Wind Solution
ProLEC Wind is a system which provides wind
farm operators with the ability to accurately
identify when lightning strikes the blade of wind
turbine.
The system consists of Remote Sensors which
are installed in the turbines blades and a Base
Station.
The sensors communicate with the base station
through latest IoT (Internet of Things) wireless
technology, and the base station sends data
through RF or Fiber to operators private server.
62. 62This information was prepared by Raycap and is confidential; it may not be copied, reproduced, disclosed or distributed without prior written consent from Raycap.
Sensor & Base Station Installation
One Remote Sensor is installed at each blade
Very simple to install
Sensor secured inside blade
Existing blade is unaffected
Wireless solution
Sensor is powered by a battery with 2 year life
Wireless Base Station
Has a range of 10km and is able to
communicate with any number of remote
sensors within this range
The base station requires power. Typically
these are powered by a 240V source in one of
the turbines

Benefits of ProLEC Wind
ProLEC Wind immediately
identifies when a blade is struck by
lightning.
The wind farm operator is alerted to
which turbine been struck and
where.
ProLEC is wireless and existing
turbines can easily be retrofitted
with ProLEC sensors.
ProLEC sensors can send
information on a daily, weekly,
monthly basis

Temporary overvoltage (TOV) versus SPDs
• Temporary overvoltage (TOV) describes an long term overvoltage above nominal voltage
(Un) incl. tolerance (typically e.g. 20%) for a limited time (msec to sec). The voltage level
can reach the double of Un.
• TOV occurs during earth faults, load rejection or phase opposition during synchronization
of two grids. It is also a typical phenomena of ‘weak’ grid systems with long cable
distances between MV/LV transformer and load (e.g. a remote telecom station).
• SPDs are designed to response very fast and to limit high voltage Spikes (protection level
is typically 3…3.5 times Unpk)
• SPDs should not response to TOV -- if protection level of SPDs is rated too low there is a
risk SPDs getting damaged during TOV conditions (overload) or backup fuses will trigger.
66. 66This information was prepared by Raycap and is confidential; it may not be copied, reproduced, disclosed or distributed without prior written consent from Raycap.
Passive Energy Absorber
• Passive Energy Absorbers are designed to limit a TOVs to approx. 1.8 times the nominal peak
voltage.
• They are MOV based and can handle significant higher energy compared to classical SPDs.
Main application is protection of semiconductor and generator windings during load rejections
with generated voltages up to 3*Unpk.
• They are not optimized for handling surges and transients and are not conform IEC SPD
standards.
67. 67This information was prepared by Raycap and is confidential; it may not be copied, reproduced, disclosed or distributed without prior written consent from Raycap.
• Active Energy Absorbers are designed to limit a TOV to approx. 1.2 times the nominal peak voltage.
• They are MOV based in combination with a switching element (semiconductor) and can handle
significant higher energy compared to classical SPDs.
• Main application is protection of TOV sensitive electronic devices when the clamping voltage has to
be very low in comparison with the normal operating voltage.
• They are not optimized for handling surges and transients and are not conform IEC SPD standards.
