1. IndiaTourism Day – 2013
To embark the celebration of the Tourism Day, the students of Rayat & Bahra Institute of
Hotel Management ,Mohali its faculty celebrated the tourism day, by highlighting the various
diversified culture of the country through the taste of the foods of various states.
The mouth watering cuisines prepared includes food items from various parts of the country
along with side dishes and condiments like chutneys , daal , curries to contribute to and add to
the flavor and texture of the meal making this event a perfect blend of culinary tastes and
balanced .The stalls were set up by the students .
Such events of RBIHM keeps the Indian spirit of Indian Culture alive .The students learned
about the cultures and customs of different states along with what make each state of the
country a Unique state.
4. PROUD MOMENT FOR RBIHM , MOHALI CAMPUS
Rayat&Bahra Institute of Hotel Management, Mohali Campus that they have
bagged the National Educational Leadership Award , 2013 in New Delhi by the
Knowledge Resource Development &Welfare Award.
The award was based on the parameters of excellence in academics and effective
management of the Institute and activities therein .
6. Big scope for growth in aviation sector – Airone Academy
An interactive session on the scope of employability in aviation sector by Mr. K.
K . Kapoor of Airone Academy.
He briefed on what aviation industry is all about focusing on that airport sector
is one of the fastest growing sector in the country .
In lieu of the scope of the aviation industry students learned about the various
course which they offer to make students skilled for the job, like Corporate
Aviation Training Program for Crew , Cabin Crew DGCA LicensedTraining,
SpecializedAviation Course, Skill Development Courses and students were active
participants in the session .
8. CHEF COMPETITIONAT BANARSIDASCHANDIWALA INSTITUTEOF
HOTEL MANAGEMENT, NEW DELHI
Inter College Chef Competition in New Delhi.
A team of 5 students Pattrick (BSC 3), Pankaj (BSC3), Surinder (HHA 1),
Sandeep(HHA 1), Shymal Gurung (HHA1) along with Chef Varun Mishra
participated in the various food competitions held.The competition was
held over a period of 3 days from 10 Octobet to 12 October,2013
The students learned the art of presentation of food along with how to be
a creative chef. As aspiring Hotel Management Professionals they got them
a platform to demonstrate their knowledge , skill and talent , leading to
enhance learning from each other experience .

11. Chef Competition at CGC Campus
Cooking in a restaurant is very different from cooking at home, so students got the
opportunity to get familiar with as many foods and techniques as possible and became
confident with kitchen equipment. Students realized that Chefs are under a lot of
pressure to perform well.

12. CLEANLINESS DRIVEAT SUKHNA LAKE
A mass cleanliness drive was carried out at Sukhna Lake on 30 January, 2013 to
celebrateWorld Cleanliness Day .
RBIHM participated in the Cleanliness Drive to make people know the
importance of keeping their surroundings and their surroundings neat and clean.
The motive behind was if our country is our motherland that it’s our duty and
responsibility to keep it neat and clean and maintain the hygiene level. Based on
these personal values depends the progress of our society and then the nation.
14. FOOD BEYONDTHE CULTURAL DIVERSITY
Workshop on Cuisines of different countries by Students of Exchange
Program .
The students from various regions Brazil , Egypt , Mexico and culture
studying in Cairo University , came to India as part of their internship and
conducted a workshop on food production.
The programs like this inculcate in students a feeling for the development
and growth of global society.
16. GOLGAPPA FESTIVAL
To enjoy the most famous street food of the country inside the walls of the Rayat
Bahra Institute , students of the hotel management department(RBIHM) ,
organised a Gol Gappa festival on 10 Oct, 2013 .
Besides, the traditional Gol Gappa, the festival offered a variety of exotic Gol
Gappas in flavours like Khatta, orange, kairi, rose, strawberry, mango, imli and
pudina, which were served with an assortment of fillings like corn, mix veg,
pineapple, sprouts, aloo, chana, moong, boondi and lots more.
The whole event was praised and applauded by the guests and the visitors who
enjoyed each and every flavor .
18. INTERNATIONAL CHEF’S MEET AT CII
The Confederation of Indian Industry and Indian Federation of Culinary Associations
(IFCA) have come together for the first time to organize north India's culinary
extravaganza 'CII International Chef Meet' in the city started from December 5.
ChefVishal Handa participated in bakery competition and took the various students
to assist along in the competition naming a few Upasna (HHA 5), Saurav Mehra(HHA5),
Sandeep Jasua (HHA 5), Jitinder Bisht (HHA5),Ravi (HHA5).
Not only students got the chance to participate on such a platform but also to meet
up their ideals which included famous Chefs from around the world.
21. EMERGINGTRENDS – MARKET SEGMENTATION IN
HOTEL INDUSTRY
A guest lecture was held at RBIHM in which around 80 students from various batches
participated, on the topic Importance of Market Segmentation in Hospitality Industry ,
by Prabhjot Singh Bedi ,founder and President Eclat Hospitality , Chandigarh.
The lecture helped the students in understanding that a hotel’s market segmentation
and that of its competitors is imperative since it affects occupancy penetration, average
daily rate positioning, and potential revenue generators.

To highlight the importance of the tourism industry and its changing trend a guest
lecture was organized by Sr. Director RBIHM, Ms. Sonali Sinha, for enlightening the
students on the scope and emerging trends of tourism industry in present day scenario.
The session was conducted by Dr. Sandeep Kulshresta, Nodal officer & Chairman
Academics, Indian Institute ofTourism andTravel Management, Gwalior.
The students learned that there is no dearth of opportunities in the travel and
tourism sector, on completing a travel and tourism course, they will get a exposure to
an array of lucrative job opportunities.
25. RESTAURANT RUNNING COMPETITION
To enhance the industry related skills of the students of the Rayat &Bahra the
EDC (Entrepreneurship Development Cell ) of the college organized a restaurant
running competition in the campus.
The competition was to run a restaurant as professionals and show their
presentation.
The competition gives the students an opportunity to experience the pressure
and potential behaviors they will encounter on the job.This builds up confidence
and experience prior to be a part of the industry. It helped the entrants to gain
basic knowledge and skills.
26. SALAD MAKING COMPETITION
Salad Making Competition was organized for students of various batches of the
Institutes on 28 August,2013 in production department club activity.
The students presented an array of salads of different countries, like Italian,
Mediterranean and of course, our very own Indian using different vegetables like
carrot , cabbage , tomatoes, onion, cucumbers, capsicums, olives , jalapenos,
beetroot with different fruits like orange , apples and juices to add different tastes to
the salads.
Competition in the Institute not only make students feel relax but also help them
learn the professional aspect of the hospitality industry.
28. SOUP AND STARTER COMPETITION
A soup and starter making competition on 18 September 2013, to help students explore
their creativity in which they were allowed to prepare a soup and a starter of their choice
and add their own flavors and colors to their preparation.
Competitions like these in the college help students to work on a platform in which they
compete with each other which help them gain a experience which helps them in later
stages in their life in which they have to work at a industry level.
30. SUSTAINABLETOURISM – WORLDTOURISM DAY
On, 27 Sep, 2013 students of RBIHM celebratedWorldTourism Day at Sukhna Lake ,
Chandigarh.The purpose to celebrate the world tourism day at the Lake was to spread a
message of SustainableTourism .
The students learned through the sustainable tourism campaign to appreciate the
benefits and problems arising from various forms of tourism and develop a critical
awareness of the ways in which tourism can enhance the welfare of people and protect
our natural and cultural heritage.
33. Celebration of World Bakers
The World Bakers Day was celebrated by the staff and students of Rayat&Bahra
Institute of Hotel Management.
Many exotic cakes and delicacies were put forward by the students, list included
croissant’s including veggie and cheese, cookies of different tastes chocolate vanilla
coconut, lemon tarts, chocolate mousse, pineapple cake , fruit cake, strawberry cake,
patties , drinks in various flavors which included mocktails , lemonades , fruit punch
with different flavors.
It was not just a celebration but a learning for the students on how to have perfection
in baking and what qualities they should acquire to be a professional in this field.
36. TECHNOVIRSA 2013 – A COLORFUL EXTRAVAGANZA
TheTech Fiesta organized by RayatBahra Group of Institutes , Mohali Campus
from 21st Oct to 24th Oct , 2013 provided the unparalleled forum for the students to
test their intellectual and artistic talents.
The event included the educational, social and cultural activities including sports
events , plays , dance , giddha , bhangra , folk singing , western singing , rangoli ,
candle making , poster making , face painting etc.
Tech Fiesta helped the students to exhibit their skills and talents in the field of
culture and other activities, which provided students with a platform for their overall
development.
