LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can

2. Purples Day Out!
“No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are
thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth.” - Robert Southey
It was yet again a time to celebrate and relive the cherished memories of college life. PSGR
Krishnammal College for Women was proud indeed to host the Mega Alumni Meet at our
college premises on the 8th
of December, 2018.
Purples Day Out turned out to be a beautiful
amalgam of the oldand the new, of tradition and
novelty, of the infallible constant that define
Krishnammal and the variables that are necessary for
progress. It was truly a remarkable sight to see so
many women come together to celebrate their
youthful days as they filled the campus with joy and
life, yet again.
An ineffable aura of joy and elation pervaded
the campus of Krishnammal, as friends greeted each
other with warm hugs and an instinctive smile on
their faces. From students who have recently finished
their journey in the college to the first student to
have ever graduated from the college, the day
celebrated the friendships that were formed and
maintained through the years.

14. is said that college days are the best
years in any student's life and this is
certainly true in my case as I fondly
recall my days spent as a Masters student of
Literature in Krishnammal. Being a part of this
esteemed institution helped me to grow in ways that
I never thought were possible! I still love and cherish
every minute I spent here since it provided me with
an excellent set of professors who guided me every
step of the way and also paved the way for my career
prospects.
Becoming a teacher who handled the
IGCSE syllabus in the Indian Public School was all
possible due to the wonderful campus placement
opportunities that were available to me during the
completion of my course. After teaching for two
years, I decided to pursue my Masters in
Education in Lakehead University, Ontario,
Canada all thanks to the continued help and
support from the professors who were my greatest
well-wishers. I firmly believe that I am now able to
successfully integrate myself as an international
student meeting the requirements of a foreign
university all thanks to the feedback I received
during my period of study in Krishnammal.
The valuable feedback I received for
improving my writing skills and the excellent
guidance I received for my final year MA project
were immensely helpful and continue to have an
impact on me even today.
Being a part of this institution has moulded
me in more ways than one and it has certainly
helped me to travel and explore places outside my
comfort zone. I owe a lot to the institution, my
professors, my peers and to all the continued help
and support I still receive even after passing out
and becoming an alumna.
