• Internet Of Things (1OT) is a network of physical devices
with the network connection.
• These physical devices include everything from home
appliances to vehicles.
• These physical devices connect and exchange data while
embedded in the various sensors, software , electronics,
actuators, and connectivity.
WHAT IS IOT
WHAT IS HOME AUTOMATION?
WHAT IS HOME
AUTOMATION?
• Home automation involves introducing a degree of
computerized or automatic control to certain electrical
and electronics system in a building.
• These lighting, temperature control, etc.., this
presentation demonstrate a simple home automation
system which contains a remote mobile host controller
and several client module (home appliances).
• The client modules communicate with host controllers
through a wireless device such as a Bluetooth enabled
mobile phone, in this case, an android based smart
phone.
INTRODUCTION:
• There is an increasing demand for smart homes, where appliances
react automatically to changing environmental conditions and can
be easily controlled through one common device.
• This paper presents a possible solution whereby the user controls
devices by employing a central Field Programmable Gate
Array (FPGA), where control is communicated to the FPGA
from a mobile phone through its Bluetooth interface.
SYSTEM DESIGN:
• Home Automation is a system which is control by a remote system such as a cell
phone like Android or IOS phone.
• It is build around a microcontroller, with adjoining relay for Interfacing with AC
devices.
• There will be sensors for the system to operate automatically according to whether
condition.
• In case of emergency such as fire, the user or an organization such as fire
department should be notified.
• Home Automation should have a database of information about the user and
appliances.
HARDWARE DESCRIPTION
• Home Automation contains a controller ,various sensors, relays, monitors
and further AC appliances which are needed to be controlled-
• It has Arduino controlled which provides the necessary signals output
device connected.
• it has a Bluetooth module which is responsible for communicating to the
mobile device or smart phone.
• Relays are connected In the circuit to isolate the appliances with the
microcontroller.
• Motor driver ICs for driving the DC motors.
TECHNOLOGY USED:
Arduino Uno
• The main piece in our project is an arduino ATmega328
kit attached by GPRS/GSM Shield.
COMPONETNS USED:
• The Main components used :
1) Bluetooth module
2) Relay
RELAY :
A relay is an electrically
operated switch.
Relays are used where it is
necessary to control a
circuit by a low-power
signal.
Relays protect electrical
circuits from overload or
faults.
RELAY WORKING :
INTERFACE :
WORKING EXPLANATION:
• First we need to download and install the Bluetooth Terminal App in our
Android Phone from the Play Store and then pair it with Bluetooth Module
HC05 like we normally pair 2 bluetooth devices.
• Now we have Bluetooth Terminal App installed in our Android phone
through which we can send data to Bluetooth ModuleHC05. HC05
Bluetooth Module is connected to Arduino Mega to serially receive the
data sent by Bluetooth terminal App through Android Smart Phone. A
16x2LCD is used to display the On and Off status of Electronic Appliances.
And is used 8 Relay which are directly connected to 7 Buls.
SCREEN SHOTS:
PROJECT DEVICES:
• The inefficiency of operation of conventional wall switches can be overwhelmed using
various home automation systems (without using conventional switching methods).
• The loss of power can be reduced and manpower required for home automation is very
less compared to conventional methods.
• Home automation system with automated door locking and security cameras facilitates
more security.
• The IR, RF, android application, Arduino,Bluetooth, DTMF, etc., based homeautomation
systems can be more efficient, provides ease of operation.Provides safetyfrom electrical
power short circuits whileusing conventional wall switches to operateloads.
• By using a home automation system, we can save a lot of time to operate home
appliances from anywhere (without wasting time to move from office to home for just
unlocking door for family members to enterthe home)
Aplications of Home Automation:
Limitations of Home Automation
• IOT (Internet of Things) devices doesn't have any international compatibility
standard
• They could be difficult to use for elderly people
• IOT is less useful in case of frequent internet disconnections
• Reduction in the employment of manual tasks thus resulting in job reductions like
watchman, sweeper, utensil cleaner maid ,housekeeping, home attendants,
general stores nearby
• Internet of Things device may take control of life in due course of time with
increasing technology.
CONCLUSION :
• Home Automation is undeniably a resource which
can make a home environment automated. People
can control their electrical devices via these Home
Automation devices and set up controlling actions
through Mobile.
• In future this product may have high potential for
marketing.
