What’s Going On…On the Net??? Companies have found a new way to market to target audiences, and the Internet has become the primary tool to do so. Although there are great opportunities on the net, the following companies cross the line -disregarding privacy and integrity laws.

The Ruckus Network is revealed for setting up a false Facebook account in order to get contact information from college students. Sony also confesses to creating “flog”, fake blog, as a means to an end in marketing. AOL users start uproar due to the fact that AOL has released user search information for public viewing. Similar acts of dishonesty and disregards of privacy are seen in companies such as Hershey, Mrs. Fields, and Xanga, and Myspace.
Large companies, and even smaller ones, have become so dominate on the web, that they sometimes overlook the laws and guidelines. However, there should be something done for this. Stricter laws should be mad and enforced to ensure the well being of internet users.
