The document discusses the various technologies the author learned to use to create a product, including computers, cameras, Photoshop, QuarkXPress, Blogger, Slideshare, and Prezi. The author learned skills like using shortcuts, changing file types, operating cameras and settings, editing photos, designing text and importing colors, setting up and managing blogs, uploading various media types, and using tools on presentation websites. Overall, the author gained knowledge on both technologies they already knew as well as new technologies, and learned how desktop publishing incorporates multiple roles that can now be done by one person with this technology.
1. Throughout the task I have learnt a lot about new technologies and further knowledge on technology I already knew how to use.
2. Computer To create my product I produced it on a computer in school. I already knew how to use a computer but during the process I learnt how to use shortcuts and change file types to work on different applications. Without this technology my product would clearly not be as good as it is.
3. Camera I learnt how to operate the cameras and change the setting on them to gain higher quality pictures. I also learnt how to put pictures onto the computer from the camera using the USB ports.
4. Photoshop I already knew how to use ‘Photoshop’ from GCSE but I learnt how to use keyboard shortcuts to make it quicker to edit my work. I also learnt how to use ‘Photoshop’ to help with editing picture and to make them a better quality. This technology is very good to edit and change images.
5. QuarkXPress I had never used ‘Quark’ before so I had to learn everything. I learnt how to set up documents and import pictures. Also how to resize them. As well as this I discovered how to design my text and import colour into my work. This technology is very useful for designing work to look professional.
6. Blogger I have learnt how to set up a blog and successfully upload images, text, hyperlinks and PowerPoints to it. I have also learnt how to manage my blog and add widgets to it. The technology is very helpful and sophisticated and showing a range of different media on it.
7. Slideshare I learnt how to use a website called http://www.slideshare.net/ to upload PowerPoints to the internet and my blog. This technology is very good as it made it easy to showcase my work.
8. Prezi I learnt how to work a site called http://prezi.com/. I created presentations which involve dragging the page and resizing objects. I learnt how to use all the tools on this website and how to publish it on my blog.
9. Desktop Publishing During the process I learnt how to be a desktop publisher which involves being : a Journalist, Photographer, Sub-Editor, Graphic Designer, Proof Reader and a Layout Sub Editor. All this I have learnt through the technology I have used to make my product. I have also learnt how it is possible to do all of these jobs at the same time and that real media business'’ do not need to employ as many people as they do.
