Masthead – bold masthead in a bright eye-catching red which is gender
neutral. The font was chosen by my target audience as what they felt
attracted them the most
Headline – following the colour scheme of red is also eye-catching while
being gender neutral. Other than the masthead it is the largest bit of text
and is in a bold font which is used throughout the magazine to create a
house style
Image – the image is of the featured DJ and is in front of a black
background with lens flares behind to make it represent the dance
genre. The model is making direct eye contact and is smiling which
connotes fun and happiness which is a convention of the Dance genre
Banner – a banner along the top in white which stands out against the
dark background. When on a news stand the top third is the only part
seen so it is important that the dance genre is clearly stated so that the
prospective audience knows that this could be something they are
interested in.
Plus – There is a plus which draws the audience in and a number which
makes the audience feel as if they are getting more and getting a bargain
to encourage them to buy the magazine

5. Contents
• Editors note – a signed editors note with an accompanying
picture of someone who represents the genre
• The text – All of the text is on the left which is the typical
place to find the article and by following this convention the
audience will know immediately where to look if they flick
through looking at what they content is
• The background – is dark and the blue Omni effect which will
represent the dance genre.
• Images – there are 3 images, one of the editor, one of the
featured DJ and another of a pair of headphone. They all
connote the dance genre and show what content is going to
be in the magazine which helps to attract the audience
• Plus – at the bottom of the text which makes it seem like they
are getting something extra
• Text – all of the text is either white or red which stands out on
the dark background and follows the house style
• Connections to technology through the
print copy by showing they have twitter,
Facebook, Pinterest and instagram

7. Article
• Drop cap – at the beginning of the article there is a drop
cap which follows the house style colour, red
• Images - there are also 3 smaller images which is typical
of the dance genre and they each have different lighting
effects over them to make them connote clubbing and
DJing
• Main image – the DJ with headphones looking over to
the text to send the readers attention that way after
looking firstly at the main image which stands out the
most
• Headline – the headline is the largest text and at the top
to attract the audience in the house colour red which
will attract the audience. It is in a font that the target
audience chose as one which stood out to them and on a
white background so that it is very clearly visible
• White boxes behind the main text – not just a rectangle,
arranged in a way to make them stand out and clear.
• The last part of the article is in red to make it stand out
and is also in capital letters. There is also a QR code to
attract people who like technology
