The document discusses how the creator established a strong and consistent brand identity across their teaser trailer, poster, and magazine cover for a media coursework project. Key elements that conveyed the same brand identity across all three promotional items included featuring the same main character prominently, using the color red consistently, and matching the title text. While the magazine cover was slightly weaker at depicting the thriller genre due to its more romantic visual elements, overall the characters and narrative were represented in similar ways across the items to clearly target and appeal to the intended teen drama audience.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
1. How effective is the
combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
Chloe Hickson
2. Brand
Identity
Brand identity is important as it allows the consumer
to associate goods with their brand identities. By
creating a strong brand identity some companies are
able to use only one element of their brand on every
product and consumers will instantly know what brand
it is. For example in terms of my media coursework,
our job was to ensure that our teaser trailer and
ancillary texts (poster and magazine cover) had a clear
brand identity and showed that they belonged to the
same promotional package.
Brand identity is
the collection of all
brand elements that
the company creates
to portray the right
image of itself to the
consumer.
3. My research – Scott Pilgrim vs
The World
At the beginning of my research I looked into 'Scott Pilgrim vs The World' as an example of brand
identity and how to create a strong brand identity through simple thigs such as text and colour as well
as more complicated detailed things that give it such a strong brand identity.
A strong brand identity has been depicted through :
• The colour red is evident throughout.
• Same title.
• Main character(s) as the main image.
• Supernatural theme through the makeup and effects of
the 7 characters in the back on the first image as well
as the light saber on the second.
• Suggests the same narrative of fighting the world
through several elements.
• Both suggest an element of romance through their
being a female character with him and the heart on
his t-shirt in the magazine cover
• The magazine cover is slightly different but this is like
to be due to the fact that the magazine company have
a lot more control in terms of layout.
6. Brand Identity
across the
whole
promotional
package
We have established brand identity
across the whole promotional
package in several ways. At first
glance at all three products you can
see that they're the same brand. For
example the main character is
forefront on all three products. From
prior research I learnt that this was
crucial in ensuring that to the
consumer it would look like the same
film and from the same promotional
package. Additionally we also
ensured that the text was the same,
we did this by matching the title on
the magazine cover to the tagline on
the poster. We chose to do this
because the font of the title on the
magazine cover, when put on the
poster, made it look too much like a
romance.
7. How we
established
Brand Identity
in terms of
visual
elements
We established brand identity
through the use of colour graphics
and text. Red is a constant theme
throughout all three products, from
the colour of text to the colour of
the main characters nails and
lipstick. We chose to do this because
it showed that there was a bit of a
twist on a generic teen drama film
and that there could be a sense of
danger or mystery in the film. We
also chose to depict this on the
magazine cover where we see the
main character holding her finger to
her lips in a 'shhh' motion.
8. I think that all three of our products suggest the same genre, however, I think that the magazine
cover is the weaker of the three in depicting the genre due to the fact that it only contains one of our
characters and the font and rose together makes it look somewhat romantic. Despite this I think
that the fact that the main character has her finger to her lips in a 'shh' motion suggests that there is
a sense of mystery and secrecy. I think that the film poster is strong as it shows all three characters
with the main character forefront suggesting she is the dominant character. She also has a very fake
smile and her eyes look glassy and as though they can look into your soul. We also have the main
character holding a red rose in both film poster and magazine cover.
Do each of your products suggest the same genre?
9. Each of the products that we have created we have created characters that are somewhat relatable
to our target audience. For example we have three teenage girls, two of which are going through the
struggle of having to move schools and make friends. The main girl may not be relatable to people
as themselves but audiences may be able to relate it to someone they know whether that be a bully,
a stalker or a psycho ex-boyfriend. The main character also suggests that the film deals with
potential social issues and mental illnesses.
The main character is a very complex characters and I think we managed to portray this across the
products, however this could be seen as a weakness because she appears to have a lot of
personalities, in the poster we have attempted to depict her as being fake, manipulating and
deceiving. The magazine we have shown her teenage playful side and in the teaser trailer we have
attempted to show all of these personalities whilst mainly focusing on the fact she is controlling and
determined. She is the modern version of a femme fatale.
The other two girls are only present in the poster and teaser trailer and in the poster their
characters aren't really represented in a way that is easy to determine their personalities. Despite
this I feel that they have been represented in similar ways as far as possible. '
Do each of your products represent characters in similar ways?
10. We decided on creating a teaser trailer for the genre of a teen drama. A teen drama is defined as a type of drama
series that focuses on the teenage characters. Teenage Dramas target audience is usually teenagers/ young adults
due to many of the storyline’s being relatable to the age group. When looking at what our real media products target
audiences were, we made sure to look at what the biggest age group were, so we could see where to base ours. The
main age group in which occurred for Mean girls was 15-21. This meant we wanted to make sure, as we fit into that
age group, we wanted to include situations or certain objects that this generation would be able to relate to. For
example we included the location of a school. We also added in an element of thriller and genre so that we could put
our own twist on the teen drama genre and create our own appeal that would help us to gain a wider audience. We
didn't want to make the film too dark in terms of narrative and I think we did that successfully. Narrative – In some
teen dramas the main character usually delivers the narrative. This allows the audience to understand how the
characters feels, as well what they are thinking. This was our original plan to have the main character do a voice over
so that we comply with teen drama genres as well as appealing to our target audience. However, in terms of
narrative we decided to keep it fairly open to the audiences imagination as well as suggesting the general narrative
in all three products. The character in teen dramas are usually of high school age. This makes it easier to distinguish
between different social groups, for example: the popular group, cheerleaders, geeks etc. In many teen dramas the
main character is an unpopular person, a geek or someone who has recently moved to the school. However we have
decided to create two of these characters and create a main character that was extremely complex.
Do each of your three products clearly 'speak' to and appeal to the same
target audience?
