The social groups our thriller represents Kerry Thompson
This image shows the stalker within my thriller opening and the film ‘Single White Female’ Unusual female stalker Dark around eye area which shows the unknown element the characters want Hood used as a disguise No happy emotion in face Light areas so character stands out
Representation of men and women Within our film we made sure that our victim was a ‘blonde female’ as these characteristics are stereotypically what you would expect to see within a thriller film. We made sure that our stalker was a male as men are stereotypically seen as arrogant or stalker like. In the previous slide the woman on the right side of the image was the stalker which is very different to most other thriller films. Even though she is a female stalker it fits in well to the film and I was surprised that even though she wasn’t male the stalker seemed very scary and it didn’t seem unrealistic. When researching our target audience we found that people preferred a male stalker being the main reason why we chose this, however through watching this film I think we could've made a female stalker fit into our film well.
Sound When creating the sound I had to make sure that the characters in my film were portrayed correctly. I made sure that when the stalker was shown the music became louder and snappy I made sure that when the girl came on the screen the music became more eerie so the audience felt more sympathetic to her. I made sure the music became louder when the new scenes, shots came on the screen and when the titles entered to keep the audience interested and help them follow the different scenes more effectively.
Editing and Typography When editing we had to cut out parts of the shot that didn’t fit in as during the stalker scene when viewing our footage we found a dog that became distracting so we had to crop it out of our shot. We made sure that the parts we filmed with the same setting didn’t become repetitive or boring by cutting to different angled shots giving the audience a different perspective of the same setting. When creating our titles we made sure that it was similar to the thriller ‘Se7en’ so that it was clear our film was representative of a thriller film.
