THE CHARACTER JONES The representation of Jones makes him more relatable to the audience and conveys him as a realistic character because he mostly conforms to the real-life stereotypes of the social groups he represent. Additionally, we also play on Levi-Strauss (1958) Binary opposition theory by presenting Jones as a dominant male beside a vulnerable female character. Jones also represents an addict and his character presents addicts as aggressive and obsessive. These are stereotypical behaviours that are associated with people suffering from addiction and by presenting Jones in this manner- our media project successful conforms to stereotypes associated with addicts. This is constantly reflected through his costume. Jones through out the opening sequence, puts on a suit to make it clear to the audiences that he is a business man. Also this representation is shown through the location used in the first scene of the opening sequence when Jones is seen in an office. However, Jones through his behaviour subverts the stereotypical Business man. In reality, you would expect a business man to be calm and collected but Jones doesn't conform to those stereotypes and this is also seen in the first scene of the opening thriller, where he portrayed has someone violent and also later on when harasses his therapist. He conforms to the stereotypical representations of a business man.
- 3. THE CHARACTER OF THE THERAPIST She is dressed smartly and her characters is presented as attentive. this is seen through her body language in the therapy scene The character of the Therapist is not fully developed and the social groups she represents are not reflected fully because of the lack of dialogue. Her character as a young therapist is presented as a vulnerable character. This representation of her might not be received positively as it presents women on a whole as weak. She conforms to the stereotypical representations of a therapist, this can be seen through mise-en-scene as she is holding a notepad in the therapy scene and her body language suggest that she is giving a listening ear.
- 4. THE END
