QueenElizabethI’s
background
KingHenryVIII[Family]
Elizabeth was King Henry VIII’s daughter. King Henry had six wives,
because he desperately wanted a son as a heir. Out of all the children he
had, he only got one son, but he died early.
KingHenryVIII[Religion]
King Henry VIII wanted to divorce his wives because he thought that he
needed a son, but back then, there was only one type of christianity,
which was Catholicism, which forbid him from divorcing. So he decided
to ditch Catholicism, and make his own type of christianity: Anglicanism.
He had all the power in that religion. He would kill and hurt people who
didn’t convert.
TheBeginningOf
TheElizabethanEra
TheHeir
Since the only son of King Henry VIII died, who became the heir to the
throne? Well, Elizabeth’s sister Queen Mary I became the queen. During
her reign, many people from the old religion and the new religion would
clash, and it was bloody. Then, Queen Mary I died. Queen Elizabeth took
over the throne.
The reason why he’s
next to the throne is
because they thought
that men should be
kings.

TheActOfSupremacyAndTheActOFUniformity
One of the problems back then for England was that their was a clash
between the old religion and the new religion. Queen Elizabeth
immediately established the Act Of Supremacy and The Act Of
Uniformity. This made sure that everyone had to worship the new
religion.
TheVirginQueen
Queen Elizabeth I’s “nickname” is “The Virgin Queen.” She had many
suitors and lovers, but she never married. Confusing? I’ll explain: back
then, male people were known as “superior,” and the tradition was to
marry a women from a different country to have a mutual agreement. If
she married someone, she would lose power, and England would be
controlled by a different country.
Battles
Problems[Part1]
To most catholics, Queen Mary of Scots was the “rightful ruler.”
Eventually, Queen Mary of Scots was beheaded. A Catholic Prince named
Prince Philip of Spain found a good reason to attack England.
Problems[Part2 ]
So, Spain had many reasons to hate on England. For example, Catherine
of Aragon was “divorced” by King Henry VIII, so Spain hated to be
embarrassed and they also hated this “new religion” because without
this “new religion” then they wouldn’t be embarrassed. Also, secret
Catholics would also probably help the Spanish, so they decided to
attack with the spanish armada.
Problems[Part3]
There’s a reason that the Spanish Armada was famous: It was the most
formidable forces at the time. It was called “The Invincible Armada.”
Now, remember the Pope that King Henry VIII disagreed with? Well,
Pope Sixtus V gave his blessing to “The Enterprise of England,” which
would make England under the power of Spain, which would turn them
back to Catholics.
