The Quattrocento was an important period in 15th century European art, known as the early Renaissance. Centered in Florence under the patronage of the Medici family, art of this era focused on accurately depicting the human figure and applying techniques like perspective. Sculptors like Donatello and Ghiberti represented the human body realistically, while painters such as Masaccio, Botticelli, and Piero della Francesca applied perspective to their paintings. Architects including Brunelleschi and Alberti introduced simple design elements to better define space in their buildings.
