The document discusses a Pareto diagram analyzing the causes of potholes in a city. It identifies weather conditions, bad quality materials used, and wear and tear from traffic as the most significant few causes, accounting for approximately 90% of problems. Less impactful causes include soil type, construction activities, low maintenance, underground water, and rainwater from trees. The diagram shows the frequency of each cause on the x-axis and their cumulative percentage on the y-axis to identify which variables have the greatest effect on pothole formation.
This document provides an overview of how to write a cause and effect essay. It explains that a cause and effect essay analyzes how certain events or experiences are related and influence each other. There are two main organizational structures for a cause and effect essay: block organization, where all the causes are discussed together in one section and all the effects in another; and chain organization, where causes and effects are linked together chronologically. The document concludes by offering suggestions for writing a strong cause and effect essay, such as focusing on direct causes and effects and using examples to support the main points.

This document discusses cause and effect relationships. It defines cause as why something happened and effect as the result of what happened. Causes always lead to effects, and effects always have causes. The cause answers the question "why?" and occurs first, while the effect answers the questions "what happened?" and "what was the result?". Sometimes the cause and effect relationship is not directly stated and must be inferred from clues. Effects can also lead to further effects in a chain reaction. The plot of the story "A Sound of Thunder" is based on a theoretical cause-effect chain where a time traveler stepping on a butterfly in the past ultimately alters modern civilization.
The document discusses the difference between causes and effects in nonfiction text and strategies for distinguishing between them. It provides examples of causes and effects, clue words that indicate causes and effects, and how to identify cause-and-effect relationships, including when the relationship is not directly stated. The document emphasizes that understanding causes and effects is important for comprehending the world and solving problems.

This document outlines a unit plan for teaching 2nd grade students about cause and effect relationships. It includes 5 lessons using read-alouds like Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day to identify causes and effects in stories. Visuals, sentence frames, think-alouds and discussions are strategies to help English learners understand the concept. Students will learn that a cause is what makes something happen and an effect is what happens as a result, and identify causes and effects in real-life examples. Assessment includes a matching activity and worksheet for students to draw or write their own cause-effect situations.
This document discusses identifying real-life causes and effects through examples and activities. Students will learn to distinguish between causes, which come before events, and effects, which are the results. They will then practice matching causes and effects in sentences and sorting jumbled relationships.
The document discusses cause and effect relationships and signal words that indicate them. It explains that understanding cause and effect helps comprehend selections better and that identifying signal words helps write better summaries. It then provides examples of common cause words like "for", "because", and "due to" and effect words like "therefore", "consequently", and "resulted in". Finally, it includes examples of identifying causes and effects and matching them with signal words.
The document explains the difference between a cause and an effect using the example of a boy being grounded for not being "on green" at school. It defines a cause as what happens first, and an effect as what happens second as a result of the cause. It identifies the boy not being "on green" at school as the cause and him being grounded as the effect. The document also provides signal words like "because" that help identify cause-effect relationships.
This document discusses cause and effect and provides examples to illustrate the concept. It defines cause as the reason for an action or event, and effect as the result of what happened. Connecting words like "because", "therefore", and "as a result" can help show the relationship between causes and effects. Examples are given of causes and their effects, both with and without connecting words. The document concludes by asking the reader to apply their understanding of cause and effect to short stories they have read.
Exploiting nature has several adverse effects, but two main ones are the extinction of animal species and loss of forests. The document provides guidance on writing introductions, thesis statements, and body paragraphs for cause and effect essays. It discusses starting with general statements or opposite ideas, using past vs present tense, and asking questions. Sample thesis statements and body paragraphs are given for topics like reasons for stress in parent-child relationships, causes of rising divorce rates, and effects of exploiting nature. The document offers tips for concluding paragraphs like restating the thesis and adding a final comment.
This lesson plan aims to teach students about cause and effect relationships. It includes singing a song about family love, reading a poem where the children show their love for their mother in different ways, and discussing how their actions caused their mother to feel. Students will analyze examples from the poem to identify causes and effects. They will also do activities to demonstrate understanding causes and effects, such as acting out scenes from the poem and identifying causes and effects in a fable. The lesson teaches about both family love and cause-and-effect relationships.
The document discusses reading strategies for identifying causes and effects in nonfiction texts. It defines causes as why something happened and effects as the result. Key strategies include identifying clue words like "because" and "as a result of" and understanding that effects can form chains where one leads to another. Examples are provided to illustrate identifying explicit and implicit cause-effect relationships.

How to Fix the Import Error in the Odoo 17Celine George
An import error occurs when a program fails to import a module or library, disrupting its execution. In languages like Python, this issue arises when the specified module cannot be found or accessed, hindering the program's functionality. Resolving import errors is crucial for maintaining smooth software operation and uninterrupted development processes.

2. Introduction to Pareto diagram
Pareto diagram( Pareto analysis) is among seven
quality control tools
It is a bar graph. The lengths of the bars represent
frequency or cost. It visually depicts situations
which are more significant.
It is used while analyzing frequency of problems or
causes in a process and it helps us to find the
cause which generally responsible for occurrence
of problem
According to Pareto diagram in almost every
case,80% of the total problems incurred are
caused by 20% of the problem cause type,
therefore by concentrating on the major problems
5. Major Causes of potholes
Water is the major cause of potholes
Falling rocks in cuttings
Poor road design over certain sub grades
(expansive, collapsible, dispersive)
Diesel (or other chemical) spillage
Animal hooves in hot weather
Excessive soluble salts
Mole rats tunneling under the road
Mechanical damage
Water erosion along unsealed joins
Ravelling under traffic
6. Temporary wet conditions (eg, seepage,
localised irrigation, etc)
Especially overloaded trucks
Heavy vehicles cause road to deflect
Repetition causes cracking and fatigue
Allows entry of water which is pumped under
pressure together with loosened fines
Deeper seated problems
When accompanied by severe cracking and
deformation or distortion of the surfacing
Differ from those areas with no cracking, which
originate from water penetration at the surface
7. Identification of symptoms that account
for 80% frequency
Below are points accounts for cause which is causing
problems most of the time
Water is the major cause of potholes
Water makes road soft and thus mechanical damage
occurs
Water erosion along unsealed joins is also a cause which
comes under water
Temporary wet conditions (eg, seepage, localized
irrigation, etc) deteriorate road conditions and it comes
under water category.
Entry of water under pressure together with loosened
fines
Water penetration at the surface of road
8. Problem definitions
As we can read that there are many causes which
appear synonyms as they are sub category of one
cause. Thus, after analyzing all causes we get a a set
of significant causes. They are-
Water Problem
Falling rocks in cuttings
Poor road design
Diesel (chemical) spillage
Animal hooves in hot weather
Traffic
Overloaded trucks/Heavy Vehicles
9. Percentage contribution of all causes to
potholes
S.No Cause Percentage contribution
in potholes
1 Water Problem 75
2 Falling rocks 10
3 Poor road design 45
4 Diesel spillage 28
5 Animal hooves 12
6 Traffic 28
7 Heavy Vehicles 30
