Q6: WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT
ABOUT TECHNOLOGIES FROM
THE PROCESS OF
CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
• Photoshop was used to create the front cover of the magazine. I used photo
shop to create the magazine front cover because it's mainly used for that and it
has lots of editing tools which make it look more professional. From photo shop
I have gained a lot more knowledge than before as I use it in another subject so
I know the basics and a few more extra things but while designing my phone
cover I learnt a lot more things such as getting rid of any blemishes taking any
unwanted bits from an image and smoothing out the image. I also learnt how to
play with the masthead in photo shop along with the image I learnt how to take
bits of the image off so the masthead is more visible, This meant erasing some
of the hair from the Cover Star also I took away the frizzy hair that got in the
way by erasing that and clearing in the background. I was having problems
with the top of the cover Star wore so I change that to a single colour which is
black so the headlines were more visible. Photoshop taught me how to align my
headlines and keep structured so looks more professional, this was used with a
ruler tall which helped me keep everything in place.
• In design was used to create the contents page and DPS of the
magazine. In InDesign I learned how to position text and control
layers. By using this I have learnt the basics of using in design and he
has allowed me to look over for the effects and place images without it
looking pixelated. In design it was hard to use at first because I had
no experience with it but now I understand the ways and is easier to
use. I used blogger to upload my work such as images embedded Prezi
presentation time toast and it's a way of organising my work. I have
never used blogger before but it didn't seem hard to use I learnt how
upload Prezi presentation this images my time told production
schedule.
• To create my masthead ‘Certified’ we had an induction to
illustrator were we learnt the basics on how to use it. I had
previous experience with illustrator but I didn’t learn much
so it still was a bit difficult at first. Illustrator taught me
how operate the text by making the letters a different size
and creating shapes. Illustrator allows you to be very
creative and it helps you create a masthead without it
looking boring.
• Lastly, I used a DSLR camera for my photography. We were
given an induction on how to use the cameras in the studio and
also learnt how to use the lights, we learnt how to adjust the
settings these were on the shutter speed, how to put the camera
on focus and how to get high or low saturation. The mini
induction gave me an insight on how to use the cameras and
even the basics of it helped me create my final product.
