2. Firstly I have attracted my audience a different unique
masthead. It suits the genre very well, it is visually attractive
and in my focus group and questionnaires it was noticed that
the masthead tittle is conveyed with the font – which is what I
aimed to – reconnect with the audience.
The first thing the audience notice on my front cover is the
attractive, eye appealing main image. The genre is portrayed
through the artists, clothing, pose and facial expression. The
focus group highlighted that the band were “hot” – and they
also look friendly and welcoming.
In my opinion and also the focus groups opinion – the
colour schemed attract the audience. I have used feminine
colours to address female readers such as pink and purple
which are soft on the eye however I have also 2 very bold
colours such black and white which stand out extremely
well against the artists clothing and also the pink and black
cover lines. This helps draws to audience to the specific
cover line which they are interested in.
The main cover line address the audience as it is
informal which therefore makes it more personal for
the reader. “Finally the return of Odd Future”
Therefore the band may have had many fans before
they made a return in the UK music industry. Overall it
is targeting a wider target audience, as it may attract
new fans for the band – e.g males who aspire to be like
them and also females, who find the band good
looking. Followed by the cover line “May just be the
future of the music business” this is intriguing for the
audience, and interests them to buy the magazine.
The pull quote – “Special edition” this attracts the
audience because it makes them feel special
because this is featured in the magazine they are
buying not a different one which is exclusive. It was
highlighted in my focus group that this was appealing
as many of them are interested in music awards.
The smaller cover lines also attract the audience
as they are designed to appeal to the certain
genre which I am advertising – the focus liked all
the cover lines as they were visually appealing,
interesting and made them want to buy the
magazine.
3. Firstly I have used the rule of thirds to make it nice and easy
for the reader to understand and find the section they are
interested in. I have followed the conventions of a contents
page in any magazine. My focus highlighted it was very easy
to understand, and also the bold large subheading were
attractive and helped.
My main image is the most attractive feature on my
contents page, this was mentioned in my focus group and
also in my questionnaires – the image is bright and bold.
The friendly, happy facial expression and body language is
very welcoming and using a different artist, who is of a
different gender makes the magazine appeal to both
sex’s. I have used a 3D effect for the main image,
therefore it looks like it is jumping out on the page- this
makes the magazine trendy/ in style and modern which
matches the genre of the magazine. I have also used 3
other images to attract my audience, using different shot
types and different artists – this attracts customers who
are interested in different artists, and articles.
The colour schemed has attract the audience, as it is
unique and different. Most contents page in hip hop and
pop magazine are bright light colours – e.g white.
However I have tried to make my magazine stand out
from other magazines, and used a dark background with
a bright paint splatter which is visually attractive with
bright colour with strokes on to appeal to my audience.
The bright feminine colours are appealing to the female
audience, all the colours connote speciality and love and
fresh which also conveys my genre of music which I am
trying to portray.
I have tried to address my audience by using informal,
friendly language therefore create a relationship
between the audience and the magazine. Having
different sections such as news, reviews and features
makes it informal and easy to read.
Also with an email address on the page, it means
the audience can get involved with the magazine.
4. I have separated the questions and
answers in 3 columns, this makes it
clear and easy to read. In my
questionnaire survey it was noted that
it was well laid out and also the
question in a bold font makes it clear
where each question finishes.
“The main image is the most
attractive thing on the double page
spread, the band looks fun and
friendly and therefore it intrigues
me to find out about the band by
reading the article.” – Bella from
the focus group. The happy positive
facial expressions and pose show
the audience the feel personalities
of the band, and also with the
direct eye contact it creates a
relationship with the artists and the
audience. I have also attracted the
audience with 3 personal medium
close ups of band – these are
informal and introduce the
audience to the band, this
addresses the audience as it is
personal.
I have used the same colours as the
