HTML5 Web Storage is a way for web pages to store named key/value pairs locally, within the client web browser. Like cookies, this data persists even after you navigate away from the web site, close your browser tab, exit your browser, or what have you. Unlike cookies, this data is never transmitted to the remote web server (unless you go out of your way to send it manually). Unlike all previous attempts at providing persistent local storage, it is implemented natively in web browsers.
Agent-based modeling is a technique used to explore both complexity and emergence by simulating individual actors and their actions within a system. Think of systems such as the traffic in a city, or like those in financial markets where one actor can have an effect on the decisions of others until the system’s direction changes its course. In this talk, you will learn about ABMs in Python.

Open-source projects often struggle with finding contributors and getting off of the ground. Communities, such as Github and PyPi, are host to redundant projects and libraries. In the development space, how do you distinguish your project from others, get people excited to contribute to it, and ultimately create a successful open source project? The answer is to apply user-centered design techniques to the development of your project. User-centered design is usually applied to web applications and products on the front-end of a website, but these techniques can be applied to open source libraries.
In this talk, Jackie will illustrate some user-centered techniques that have been used on her own project — Mesa (https://github.com/projectmesa/mesa), along with other successful open source projects. This talk will include a survey of interviews with a focus on successful techniques, along with additional user-centered design techniques that could be leveraged to inspire increased community engagement into your project.
jQuery is so easy to write and therefore so easy to write poor code also. As coders are we sure that what we write can easily be digested by the web page? Lets go and see how we can easily improve performance with same code with different approach.
The HTML5 history API is a standardized way to manipulate the browser history via script. The new parts in HTML5 include a way to add entries to the browser history, to visibly change the URL in the browser location bar (without triggering a page refresh), and an event that fires when those entries are removed from the stack by the user pressing the browser’s back button. This session would help learn more about HTML5 History API.

Public data is an underutilized resource developers and entrepreneurs should be able to use to build apps and businesses. But not all government agencies see the value in making their data publicly available. Go Code Colorado challenges developers to create apps that solve business problems and create new businesses in the process. Join us to hear how Go Code is creating a community that values open data, from state agencies that are making their data public, to developers that are creating innovative solutions to make Colorado a better place to do business.

Open Data, by definition, provides the chance to re-shape and publish heterogeneous pieces and fragments of information which are open, namely anyone is free to use, reuse, and redistribute it. In order for users to fully benefit this idea, Open Data Systems of tomorrow must provide high quality data, relying on real time and ubiquitous services, along with a deep integration with mobile and smart devices and infrastructures.
In this session, we present a syntheses of Whitehall proposal addressed a this vision: is addressed at building Open Data in a fully-fledged Big Data infrastructure, realized using graph based and NoSQL technologies. This idea is shaped in a cultural heritage scenario, where data in envisaged at valorizing one of the main assets of Italy: cultural heritage.

Unlocking Productivity: Leveraging the Potential of Copilot in Microsoft 365, a presentation by Christoforos Vlachos, Senior Solutions Manager – Modern Workplace, Uni Systems
In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
By highlighting the potential advantages and challenges of integrating AI with XML development tools and languages, the presentation seeks to inspire thoughtful conversation around the future of XML development. We’ll not only delve into the technical aspects of AI-powered XML development but also discuss practical implications and possible future directions.

41. Spatial is special
• spatial data = attributes, location, time
• mappable!
• spatial data must be referenced in space
• Tobler’s First Law of Geography

42. Spatial analysis
• large data sets a smaller amount of
meaningful information
• exploratory (ESDA)
• spatial statistics
• mathematical modeling and prediction of
spatial processes

43. Techniques
• point pattern analysis -- hot spots, k
density, nearest neighbor
• spatial interpolation -- kriging
• spatial regression -- ordinary least squares,
geographically weighted regression

52. PySAL
• GeoDa Center at ASU
• Python library for spatial analysis, with modules for
exploratory spatial data analysis, spatial
econometrics, and location modeling
• http://code.google.com/p/pysal/
• requires NumPy, SciPy

53. PySAL
• developers looking for spatial analytical methods
to incorporate in application development
• analysts working on projects that require custom
scripting
• looking for a user-friendly GUI? Try STARS,
GeoDA, GeoDASpace.
• want to integrate into a powerful GIS? Look for
plug-ins for ArcGIS & QGIS.

55. Next steps
• quantify clusters in city, region, nation
• examine clusters along networks, business
corridors
• create beautiful, interactive maps and charts to
allow users to explore spending patterns on their
own

57. Which stories would we go
after?
• construction contracts
• funding to charter schools
• health care costs in prisons
• local vs. regional vs. national purchases
• technology services -- look for overlap
