This document summarizes the AddressingHistory project, which created an online crowdsourcing tool combining digitized historical Scottish Post Office Directories (PODs) with historical maps. These are the slides of my presentation given at FOSS4G 2009 about GeoKettle and the open source Geospatial BI suite we have developed.
EDINA National Datacentre Activity Update to GWG
The document provides updates on Edina National Data Centre services and projects. Key points include:

04 Applications of Smart Points of Interest
1) Smart Points of Interest (SPOI) is a dataset of over 27 million geographic points of interest published as linked open data and accessible via a SPARQL endpoint and map client.
2) SPOI was developed to interconnect tourism data across borders in a standardized, linked data format. It populates points from 49 external sources and supports applications like tourism guides.
3) Future work will focus on optimizing data collection, improving links and metadata, eliminating errors, and developing new applications like augmented reality with SPOI data.

Fieldtrip GB is a customisable mobile app for collecting mapping and field data. It allows users to [1] save maps for offline use, [2] create custom data collection forms, and [3] search, filter and export collected records. Developing such apps faces challenges like cost, rapid technology changes, and supporting multiple platforms/networks. The app addresses issues with open data mashups like labeling conflicts and alignment. It uses a client-server architecture with PhoneGap, OpenLayers and outsourced data storage. Future plans include more data types and augmented reality. The app aims to empower users and contribute to the "Sensed World Web".

Presentation summarizes my work at the Kansas Biological Survey to construct a cyberinfrastructure in support of ecological forecasting. The goal was to identify, organize, metadata, and publish databases available at the KBS. The system uses a hybrid stack built around ESRI ArcGIS Server and the metadata catalog GeoNetwork.
Metadata crosswalks
MarcEdit is a free MARC editing software that allows users to import, export, merge, and manipulate MARC records, and includes features for converting between different metadata schemas through the use of crosswalks that map elements from one schema to another. The software was originally developed in 1999 and is now written in C# while remaining MARC format neutral and XML aware. MarcEdit uses a crosswalk model that allows any metadata combination to be utilized through at most two transformations between a metadata schema and the MARCXML format.
Mapping with Drupal
Leo Klein presented on mapping with Drupal at the UIC IT Professionals Forum. He discussed using the Drupal address, geocoder, and geofield modules to geocode addresses and display them on maps using the Leaflet JavaScript library. Klein outlined the workflow of taking an address, geocoding it to get latitude and longitude coordinates, and storing the geographic data in a geofield to display on Leaflet maps. He noted future developments could include more server-side mapping capabilities and making maps more mobile friendly.
Open @ EDINA
EDINA is a national data center based at the University of Edinburgh that provides open access to scholarly resources and supports the UK education sector. It runs several geospatial services including GeoTagger for geotagging images, Cartogrammar for creating cartograms, GoGeo for discovering GIS resources and metadata, Unlock for georeferencing text, and ShareGeo and Openstream for mapping and sharing open geospatial data. EDINA also promotes open events and groups for geospatial topics.

The University of Glasgow Library developed a strategy to deliver mobile services over multiple phases.
Phase 1 involved developing a mobile catalogue, implementing QR codes, testing instant messaging and e-books, and conducting user surveys. Based on survey findings that most use mobile internet for email, social media and browsing, the top requested services were searching articles, checking out books and reading e-books.
Phase 2 will focus on improving the mobile website, expanding access to e-resources beyond e-books, using QR codes in physical locations, teaching digital skills, and utilizing mobile devices to improve workflows. Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.
