of the film. The audience will also feel a strong connection with the characters in the
film as the film is focused on that character throughout. As films tell audience about
issues, they deepen their understanding making them closer to culture and reality.

usually make sure to add a moral lesson, to help make the world a better place.

Functional purpose is something that is useful for its intended purpose. Short films have the
functional purpose of teaching new film makers skills of shooting. Short film are often the first
step amateurs make when they step into this field. Short films provide an opportunity for
learning for people stepping into media. As short films are cheaper to make and do not
require expensive equipment to be made. It also has the advantage to directors of
experimenting news ideas without risks attached. Short films can also increase the creativity of
people as they would explore new ideas about which they can make a film. High schools and
university can use short films for educational purposes. A production company can also use
short films to promote their up coming big feature films. Also, due to the digital
advancements, those with fewer resources can market and distribute their short films. Hence
no large team and large amount of capital is required to make and distribute a short film.
Short film festivals give a chance to amateur film makers to show their work which give them
an opportunity to show their potentials in a short time and thus may attract other film makers
and producers. It also helps film makers get knowledge, recognition and experience.
