2. Definition
Mis en scene is a French term
meaning what is put into a scene. It is
the visual information in front of the
camera. Communicates essential
information to the audience.
3. Elements
Mis En Scene is made up of five elements:
1) Setting and Props :Where the scene is shot and what are
the props used in it.
2) Costumes, hair and makeup: They play an important part in
showing the time zone, occasions etc.
3) Facial expressions and body language: Shows emotions of
the character and what the character is trying to say.
4) Lightning and color: Can show the nature of the character
e.g. bright colors can be used to show cheerful characters.
5) Positioning of characters and objects within the frame:
Where the characters and objects are within the frame.
