2. Introduction
• The Natural History and Archaeological
museum, has been housed since 1991 in the
area of Santa Corona, and is divided into two
sections Naturalistic and Archaeological. I
visited the Natural History and Archaeological
museum during its winter season.
3. Introduction Cont.
The National History and Archaeological Museum has a show case that
Includes the documentation of stone tools, and evidence of human presence
from the Middle Paleolithic, and continuing to the presentation of Neolithic
Settlements and the Bronze Age. In March of 1945 during the second World War
the museum was bombed and almost all of the natural history material was destroy
Most of the exhibits that the museum currently has are either donations or fairly ne
Additions. The Natural History and Archaeological Museum is located in the former
Domninican convent of Santa Corona.
4. Geology
Collection
Foundation
Many of the collections within the museum were
donated by Scortegagna, Gardinale, Lioy and other
naturalist
Issues/Constraints
Because of the sites lack of achaelogical collections it
made it hard to give an honest accessment.
Very much of the collections is more on the
naturalist side then the archaeological side. The
site has a lot of collections of insects and
animals.
Method and Theory
Because most of the exhibits
in the Museum were provided
visitors have to try to identify
the location of the main sites
that most of the material was
found.
5. Method and Theory
• Some of the remains that are displayed are
accompanied by cards with none scientific
determination of the piece.

7. Issues
I think that in many ways archaeology can be used to further explaining
The exhibits located in the museum. Archaeology could be used to
determine when the specific species of plants and animals in the
collections lived and the effect the environment had on them. Must of the
collections that the museum had were destroyed so the museum
through the support of the local population is slowly gaining popularity
again.
8. Conclusion
Pros: Cons:
- The site is conveniently close. Not enough information
- The site has hours through out the year. Exhibits don’t focus on all topics
- It is easy to navigate through the exhibits Site starting to gain popularity
