I’ve found this advertisement from the newspaper The Star which on
17December 2014. As Christmas is near and most of the students are having
their school holiday now, so definitely variety of advertisement can be spotted
on the newspaper such as Christmas sales or family vacation package to lighten
up people’s holidays. Basically these advertisements are called persuasive
advertisement. What is persuasion? Based on my opinion, persuasion is sort of
effort to change other’s attitude through the use of types of messages. It’s
common to be found in advertisement as it’s a strategy that attempt to influence
the people in a favor of purchasing a particular goods or services.
From the advertisement that I’ve chosen there’s a big title that clearly
stated about “ The Family Vacation ” in Genting and a lovely family photo where
placed behind the title. No doubt parents that has children will be the target of
this advertisement and will be more likely to get attracted by the big title. It is
also be in line with one of the successful persuasion which is attractive
communicators. People will strongly get attention by the family members at the
first glance because of the models’ nice physical appearance and their truly
smiles but also the background which shows the fascinating panorama view of
Genting Resort World Hotel. It literality persuade the readers in order to spend
their great time boding with their families members in Genting.
Secondly, the persuasive attempt in advertisement is more likely to be
effective when the communicators are credible. In other words, people that
receive your words or communication must believe in you. Just like Genting
Highland, it’s a nice getaway where people love to go because it provides a
variety of entertainments. From the advertisement, there’s listed four types of
activities that particularly offers for the family when they are having their time
in Genting. It ensure the family members will never get bored by experiencing all
the interesting activities such as Sesame Street Live Elmo Makes Music, Night At
