Psychotherapy Matrix
Directions: Review Module 36 of Psychology and Your Life. Select three approaches to summarize using
any of the following theories: psychodynamic therapy, Freud’s therapy, behavioral therapy, classical
conditioning treatment, operant conditioning, and dialectical behavior therapy. Include examples of the
types of psychological disorders appropriate for each therapy.

Behavioral Approach Chapter 11 states” Treatment
approaches that build on the
basic processes of learning, such
as reinforcement and extinction,
and assume that normal and
abnormal behaviors are both
learned.”

appropriate for this therapy would
be anxiety disorders and phobias
Cognitive Approach Chapter 11 states” A treatment
approach that incorporates basic
principles of learning to change
the way people think.
The disorders that are
appropriate for this therapy would
be anxiety, phobia, and
depression.
