The Center for Leadership and Community Engagement at Central Washington University has partnered with the Real Madrid Foundation and Microsoft Corporation to create a program called GameOn! that brings together local middle and high school students. Through GameOn!, students from two Yakima schools will have the chance to play soccer and learn computer science skills through Microsoft's YouthSpark program. This experience allows students to build leadership skills, technological literacy, and improve their individual and collective abilities while also exposing them to a college environment. GameOn! is the first program hosted by Real Madrid on the west coast of the U.S. and is affiliated with a university, aiming to foster educational opportunities and futures for young students.

BREAKAWAY: Combating Gender-based Violence through Student Created Games
In 2010, college students at the Emergent Media Center (EMC) at Champlain College partnered with the United Nations Population Fund to create BREAKAWAY, an online game addressing gender-based violence. Research conducted in a series of facilitated youth camp models in Palestine and El Salvador from 2012-2014 highlighted its effectiveness at producing positive change in youth participants. The game was a finalist in the 2016 Womanity Award for the Prevention of Violence Against Women.
In 2016, students recognized the need to reach wider audiences and address changing play and game technologies. Thus began development of BREAKAWAY: mobile, completed in 2018. It recently was employed in migrant camps in Rwanda. Like the original, it is a soccer-themed game that addresses VAWG by encouraging reflection, positive attitudes, and behavior change in youth.
This presentation will include a brief demo of the game. It will examine the challenges of student led development for international audiences including: maintaining the integrity and impact of the original online version while updating and adapting it to a mobile format; opportunities for streamlining the narrative for a new generation; improving mini-game play; emboldening student experience; and how to partner with academia.

Quest2Teach is a series of game-infused 3D virtual learning curricula and socio-professional network, created from within a teachers college and designed for teacher education, to help bridge between educational theory and its application to classroom practice.
In Quest2Teach, students create a professional avatar, play out roles in 3D narratives as the protagonist, solve complex problems, fail safely, and see the impact of their decisions while gaining fluency in theories-in-action. Pre-service and in-service teachers evolve their professional identity in a variety of narrative-based 3D role-playing scenarios, each with a particular theoretical focus, and embedded within a larger experience-based curricula and network.

Woolman
John Woolman was a 18th century Quaker born in New Jersey who advocated for social reform, especially abolitionism. He struggled with contradictions between Quaker values and practices involving slavery. This led him to make choices aligning his work with his values, like refusing to write legal documents involving slave sales. Through prayer, meditation and journaling, Woolman sought to harmonize his inward and outward life. He worked to end oppression through personal choices, conversations and ministry. Woolman's legacy includes promoting nonviolence, sustainability, and starting reform from within the self and community through respectful action. His influence continues through his emphasis on experiencing and understanding others' conditions in order to work for justice.
Testimony
This document discusses Quaker testimonies, which are core values that guide Quaker beliefs and actions. The testimonies of peace, truth, equality, and simplicity originate from the Quaker belief in that of God in every person.
