Protection
Many jobs require some level of face protection,
and eyewear is the most critical and common
protective equipment. Eye protection is important
to ensure both the long-term health of your crew
and optimal visibility in worksites with dust and
debris.
Eye protection is mandatory in all areas with
potential for eye injury. This applies not only to
persons who work continuously in these areas, but
also to persons who may be in the area only

SAFETY GLASSES
Safety glasses provide eye protection against flying debris for construction workers or lab

SAFETY CHEMICAL SPLASH GOGGLES
The chemical splash goggles are designed to seal against the skin around both eyes and protect the
wearer from splashing at almost any angle. Glasses or safety glasses with side shields do not provide
adequate protection. Full face shields may be used in conjunction with and secondary to goggles, but
they should never be used to totally replace goggles. Face shields offer protection from fluid splash
only from a head-on direction. Fluid splashed from other angles can penetrate the area between the
face shield and the wearer's eyes. Hence, when ever working with chemicals, dusts and such
contamination that might permeate the eyes, it important to wear safety googles that offer greater
protection.

Ear Protection
Workers exposed to excessive noise must use

EAR MUFFS

PERSONAL GAS PROTECTION

General Guidelines for WVO-100 Inspection
• Pull on the nylon webbing and stitching, if it tears or the stitching breaks, the vest should be
replaced.
• Replace if the flotation is flattened and has lost buoyancy.

perform much better than constant exposure to UV.

APRONS
Rubber or plastic aprons should be worn when lifting sacks of dry salt or other additives. These
aprons protect the chest, waist and upper leg area from chemical spills. Although they don’t protect
the arms and hands, they are invaluable when one carrying 50 to 100lbs sacks has to “belly up to

HAND PROTECTION ACCESSORIES
Health effects from Oil Based Drilling Fluid exposure vary depending on the chemical constituents
of the drilling fluid. Oil based drilling fluid can cause skin disorders, such as dermatitis. Skin
exposure can happen at the Shakers or the drilling floor while performing activities including
cleaning, handling the fluid through pumping or mixing, making piping connections, mud tank
cleaning, collection of samples or when invert spills occur.
