Eric Anciso has proposed a project to research and write step-by-step instructions on how Texas State Technical College (TSTC) students can access their grades on the my.tstc.edu website. Many TSTC students do not know how to check their grades and stress about whether they are passing classes. Anciso believes concise instructions will help students reduce stress by allowing them to easily monitor their grades and academic progress. He requests 10 hours to develop a questionnaire, gather student feedback, and create a PowerPoint to clearly outline the grading access process. Anciso believes the instructions will be a valuable resource for students to better manage their academic careers at TSTC.

Re: Proposal for writing instructions on accessing grades on my.tstc.edu
Thank you for your time to read my proposal. I am requesting permission to spend
approximately 10 hours researching and writing instructions on how to access my.tstc.edu. Texas
State Technical College students have a problem, they don’t know how to find out what grades
they have. My step-by-step instructions will help them.
I. How do you work with this?
TSTC students have a lot of stuff to do when they are at school. They have to worry
about choosing the right classes for their future and they have to find a way to pay for
their classes. Once they get settled down in school they stress with having to pass all of
their classes. A lot of students find out when they start school at TSTC is that the
teachers don’t always give them progress report grades like they used to get back in high
school. A lot of students stress over the fact that they don’t know whether they are
passing their classes or not. They want to figure out what their grade point average is
and how many credits they already have. I know from personal experience that it gets
scary to wonder whether I am passing my classes or am I failing and just don’t know it.
No student deserves to stress and worry about looking up their grades. I feel like I can
successfully show students step-by-step how to check their grades without a hassle.
II. A less stressed environment.
I will provide the students a step-by-step way for them to check their grades on
my.tstc.edu. Wouldn’t it be better for students to be less stressed in college. Think of it,
they can better focus on their classes where their grades are slipping; enjoy the college
experience; and create a very positive place to be. I know personally that I would rather
be in a college where everything in the environment had a positive feel to it, instead of
being in a place where I’m very uncomfortable at. If it were uncomfortable I wouldn’t be
able to focus on my classes and I would become negative. I’m sure other students feel
this way as well, so why not create instructions to show them that there is a way to help.
There is a resource out there that will help them become less stressed students.
III. Project Plan
I would like permission to distribute a questionnaire to students here at TSTC so I can

2. get an estimate about how many of them know their grades and how many don’t. This
way I can make a statistical analysis about how many students I am really helping with
these instructions. After gathering up my information, I will then create a power point
which will be the format I will distribute the instructions. It will be very simple steps
that a student can take so they can check their grades. Not only that, the process I show
them will also enable them to access other features of my.tstc.edu. Because there are so
many resources on this website that can be accessed and after these instructions a
student can feel more in control of their academic life.
I do believe that instructions on accessing my.tstc.edu grades will help TSTC students
substantially. If you approve and would like me to move forward with this project, please return a
