This document outlines a case study on lagooning wastewater in Phuentsholing, Bhutan. It discusses lagoon systems as a cost-effective wastewater treatment option that can effectively remove pollutants while promoting hygiene. The objectives are to design a community-based lagoon system for low-cost sanitation and environmental protection. The methodology will include site selection, soil testing, wastewater characterization, population surveys, and design of lagoon ponds, sludge disposal, drainage, and an ecological pond. The expected outcomes are a lagoon treatment plant that generates no offensive smells and has minimal environmental impact.
