Paranormal Productions proposes to create a promotional package for an upcoming horror film including a teaser trailer, magazine cover, and poster. The film will target 15-30 year olds interested in horror and combine amateur and professional footage. It will follow horror genre conventions to attract the intended audience. The poster and magazine cover will promote the same target audience as the film and have a consistent horror-themed style. The film's storyline focuses on a young couple who discover their new house is haunted by the demonic spirit of a previous owner who died there. The film will use suggestion to create tension without explicitly showing the haunting. The promotional package will have a £40,000 budget to cover production and post-production

Proposal.
Our production company Paranormal Productions intend to produce a promotional
package including a teaser trailer for an upcoming horror film that we aim to create,
and a front cover of a magazine and a poster advertising the film. The film will target
males and females within the age range of 15 – 30 who are particularly interested in
the horror genre. The film will combine ‘amateur-looking’ handheld footage shot
from an amateur video camera, and ‘professional-looking’ still shots (i.e. on a tripod)
from a professional cameraman’s camera, with this idea being influenced by recent
films such as the “Paranormal Activity” trilogy and “Cloverfield”. The whole package
will thoroughly follow the codes and conventions of the horror genre, ensuring that
it will effectively attract the correct audiences wanted. The aim of the trailer and
movie is to greatly scare the audience by making it believable enough to have
actually happened in the past. This will cause great discussion between people after
they have been to see the film, giving it further advertisement/promotion.
The poster and magazine front cover for the film will obviously aim to attract the
same target audience as the film aims to, and all will fit in with each other through
the evident use of a professional and consistent house-style, consisting of horror-
related images, colours and fonts. The poster and magazine front cover will be
created after the trailer has been completed, as they will contain images and
information gained throughout the production of the trailer.
The film’s storyline focuses on a young couple from the point of them moving into a
house that they think is perfect for them, but then they discover that the house is in
fact haunted. The house has not been happily lived in for over 50 years, people have
lived there but have immediately moved back out. One of the house’s previous
owners died while inside the vicinity of the house - Lady Evelyn Wilson, making the
house apparently haunted by her demonic spirit. Lady Evelyn Wilson’s death was a
tragic suicide that she was driven to by her abusive husband. Her hauntings have not
yet been proven true, so the young couple take it upon themselves to evidence her
hauntings by documenting them on their amateur Video Camera.
The film will effectively use the technique of suggestion, to excessively create a tense
atmosphere like other films previously have done such as “Paranormal Activity” – i.e.
a lot of the time in the film you never actually physically see the demon haunting,
you only really see the actions/effects of the demon such as objects moving and
scary noises. The art of suggestion is an essential key attribute to our film, and the
horror genre as a whole, as it keeps the audience enticed to/interested in the film,
and sat on the edge of their seats in anticipation.
The promotional package will require a small and reasonable budget of £40,000, to
cover all the costs of production and post-production work, i.e equipment and
location hire, actors etc. We aim to receive this money from various funding
companies, so the gross amount of £40,000 will not be required from just one
company; instead a contribution of a smaller amount of money is wanted. The

equipment that we will invest in with the money we receive will be high tech video
cameras, standard video cameras, props, actors, and a small editing suite. The
package will be produced within the vicinity of Doncaster, specifically in the village of
Armthorpe.
The age rating for the film will be 15, and definitely no lower, due to the spine-
chilling, scary content of the film. The reason for it not having an 18 rating is because
if it has a 15 rating, then there is a wider potential audience available thus increasing
the chances of the film being successful.
We hope you consider investing in this project, thank you very much for your time.
Yours sincerely, Paranormal Productions.
