2. Proofreading
Proofreading is a way of catching
errors in you paper before you hand
it in so that your paper will be
clearer , more correct , and more
accptable to you instrutor and to
anyone else who read it.
3. Good Idea for Proofreading
1.If you write multiple rough draft , select the
‘last’ rough draft to be the one that you
proofreading carefully
2.You could proofreading each sentence after
writing it , or you could wait unit you finsh a
whole pragraph and then go back and proofread
the entire pragraph.
4. 3. Each time you edit or add any words to your
paper ,(even if it is only one or two words)
4.Most importantly , however , be sure to
proofread you entire paper just before you print it
out. Proofreading your whole paper carefully
should always be the very last thing you do before
printing out the final draft
5. Proofread Paper
(a). First , if time permits , proofread your pape r
after being away from it for serveral hours or
even for a few days.
(b). Next , print out your paper before you begin
proofreading it.
(c). When you begin to proofread , have a pen or
pencil in hand to mark the errors or rough spots
as soon as you find them.
6. (d). Read you paper aloud , slowy and carefully .
(e). Give you paper to someone else to
proofread.
(f). Proofread your paper backwards!
(g). Use the spell check.
(h). Use the grammar check with great caution
and reservation

Sentence errors (fragments, run-ons, comma splices)
Commas (misplaced, incorrectly use, missing)
Incorrect! Homonym use
Misspelling
Typos
Transposing letters (from vs form
Confusing similar words (affect vs effect , then vs than )
Incorrrect use of capitals or omiting correct capital letters
