2. The mayor goals of the project
• The project The revitalization of historical and cultural complex of Škrip settlement connects
the cultural points in the area, setting the proper presentation and touristic valorization.
• The project aims are revitalization of the five singular locations (archeological park, church of St. John
the Baptist, the bell tower of St. Helen’s church, Radojković castle as a part of The Island of Brač
museum, Cerineo castle) and one moveable (the museum inventory of The Cultural center Brač –
within The Island of Brač museum.
• The establishment and development of authentic accommodation and catering services and the
development of various components of cultural tourism in the cooperation with The Island of Brač
museum, Museum of olive oil , and the future presentation center in the Minjera mine.
• The project’s main tendency is to preserve the rural heritage and centuries old cultural everyday life,
with the added value of Škrip’s branding as well-known touristic focal point within the wider area of
Supetar.

• Along with the infrastructure
change, the project aims to
prepare and implement the
interactive web map (GIS
mapping, navigation, GPS map
download), that will provide the
better accessibility to various
locations, and it would be
applied to the next-generation
cellphones.
• The potential users will also be
able to access information
about the specific cultural site (
creation, history and
developments) and also about
the nearby accommodation and
catering capacities.

4. Minjera mine
• This location served as a bitumen mine between the middle of the XVIII. century to the XIX. century when it was
drained of resources and abandoned.
• The project’s goal is to put in order, valorize and present the mine by constructing the Presentation center.
• In the Presentation center the visitors can inform themselves about the valuable industrial heritage and the historical
economic importance of the Škrip settlement.
• Within the project goals is setting up the bicycle trails that could improve the connectivity of bitumen mine with the
other cultural focal points of Škrip.
• It will also serve as an additional content for leisure and recreation.
• The creation of various walking and bicycle trails, is also stressing out the significant green component of the whole
program, additionally highlighted with the effort to stop all motor vechile transport within the protected are, regulated
and eased by the construction of the bus-stop and parking lot in the settlement’s entrance.

5. Cerineo castle
• This late renaissance fortification complex was built in 1570. by the
distinguished Cerineo family that fought the Ottomans for the
Republic of Venice.
• The important project’s item is the re-evaluation of Cerineo castle,
which will be valorized within the category of investment in the
catering and accommodation services, due to which the castle would
be adapted to the lodging residence of the first class.

6. Church of St. Anthony
• The project proposes the adaptation of
the former church of St. Anthony
which served for many centuries as a
storage area.
• The adaptation will signify the
establishment of the new museum area
in the church.
• The church will also be added to the
State Register for the cultural goods.

7. The church of
St. Helen
• The neo-baroque church of St. Helen is a parochial church of Škirp, built in
the beginning of XIX. century in place of older church that was demolished
century before.
• It bears the this name owning to the mother of emperor Constantine the
Great, St. Helen the Crusader, that was born in Škrip, or so the legend says.
• The necessary renovation mostly involves the bell tower of the church that is
exposed to considerable dilapidation.

8. Radojković castle
• Radojković castle is a monumental blend of ambiental, residential and defensive
architecture, built in this form between the XVI. and XVII. century.
• The castle would be renovated by the means provided by the investment in cultural
heritage.
• The interior of the castle houses The Island of Brač museum, which would be
exposed to the investment categories for science and education, to better preserve,
valorize and present the museum’s collection

9. Archaeological
park
• The eastern reaches of the Radojković castle are bounded by fence that goes to the old
water reservoir.
• During the archaeological research, the remains of the ancient Roman settlement were
found, as well as the medieval cemetery. In the near vicinity one can also find the ancient
Illyiran cyclopean walls.
• The goal of the project is to improve this location by creating the formalized Archaeological
park, that is more thoroughly excavated, cleaned, arranged and explained that can serve as a
part of the sightseeing and walking route within the old historical core.

10. The church of St.
John the Baptist
• The former baptistery church for the former parochial
church of Holy Spirit.
• This simple late-renaissance building was later adapted to be
a mortuary and after century of neglect it is now
significantly dilapidated
• Its outer and inner walls, as well as roofing and the altar
requires considerable renovation, because the cracks that are
forming are endangering the whole stability of church.
• The renovation of this church by the cultural heritage
investment funds is of paramount importance.
