2. Author’s Info Harry Allard was born in Evanston, Illinois on January 27 th . He grew up in California, Long Island and Chicago. He graduated from Northwestern College in 1943 and then performed active duty in Korea. He then lived in Paris for several years and became so fluent in the language that he got a master’s degree and then a Ph.D in French from Yale in 1973. He taught French at the college level for many years . His arrival in Boston, he met James Marshall, whose art and friendship inspired Allard’s first book “ The Stupids Step Out”. This successful collaboration paid the way for the publication of other Stupids books and the Miss Nelson Series. Miss Nelson is Missing was voted one of the most memorable books of the century .

3. Schedule of Activities For Compare and Contrast Yolanda, Michael and Janet will dress up as the characters. Michael will go to the students and say “ Miss Nelson is missing and I will be telling you how it all started”. Also Michael , Yolanda and Janet will say what there character will be saying in the book. After the story ends, we will get two kids in front of the class and have the rest of the other kids and ask them to compare and contrast the kids standing in front of the class, So later on they will be able to compare Miss Nelson and Miss Swamp. Then we will pass out the vocabulary activities and help then do it and then a little later have them take the quiz. At the end of the lesson the kids will be able to pretend to be someone they are not and the other students will have to identify how they are. Just like in the story , whe Miss Nelson was pretending to be Miss Swamp.

12. Interview How do you teach compare and contrast in your classroom? I have them compare and contrast their physical traits, with objects I also give them a Venn diagram and their H-bar. What do you find difficult about teaching compare and contrast? The most difficult part would be that students need to be able to identify the text before they can compare and contrast it. What advice would you give us when teaching compare and contrast ? I would have two students come up to the front of the classroom with sticky-note and let them be teacher and let them compare two people and let them teach other

13. Skill Lesson Frame The Skill lesson I worked on today was compare & Contrast. One I understand that you can compare more than two things this skill will help me be better because I can understand the story better. I am going to remember how to use this skill by using the tips that Ms.C gave us also by using the Venn diagram. One piece of advice I would give to someone working with this skill is to understand what you are reading to be able to compare and contrast. In order to Im prove I will need to put close attention to details to the story . One more thing I want you to know is that the Venn Diagram is not the only graph you can use.
