PROJECT
THE PROPOSED BUILDING IS AN URBAN INFILL COMMUNITY LIBRARY WHICH LOCATED IN
PETALING STREET AREA. THE DESIGN CONCEPT IS BASED ON THE PRINCIPLE OF TEAHOUSE
WHICH IS GIVE THE SENSE OF SERENITY THAT IN CONTRAST TO THE SITE AREA.
COMMUNITY LIBRARY IS FORMED THROUGH THE CLUSTERED DIFFERENT VOLUME
PAVILIONS THAT SURROUNDED WITH EXTERIOR LIBRARY AS A FOCAL POINT OF THE
LIBRARY.
SITE B: JALAN PETALING WHICH IS LOCATED IN A ROW OF SHOP HOUSES THAT
SURROUNDED MAJOR OF LOCAL COMMUNITY AND IN FRONT OF A BUSY TRAFFIC

FROM THE SHADING DEVICE OF BAMBOO COVERING WHILE
ENHANCE THE NATURAL APPEARANCE. IT IS ENVIRONMENTAL
FRIENDLY MATERIALS THAT BRINGS QUALITY OF SPACE TO THE
LIBRARY.

BAMBOO LOUVERS, STEEL
STRUCTURAL COLUMNS ARE INCORPORATED INTO THE WALLS
BETWEEN THE APARTMENTS. A FURTHER GREEN ASPECT IS THE USE
OF SOLAR WATER- HEATING PANELS ON THE ROOF, PLUS
CHIMNEYS TO INTERNAL BATHROOOMS AND KITCHENS. THE
ROOFTOP PLANT IS NOT VISIBLE FROM BELOW, AS THE BAMBOO
FACADES ARE EXTENDED UPWARDS ON STEEL FRAMES TO
CONEAL IT.

COMPOSITE CONSTRUCTION IS A BUILDING CONSTRUCTION THAT INVOLVING MULTIPLE DISSIMILAR MATERIALS TO CARRY LOAD WHICH
CONNECTED AS A SINGLE UNIT. THIS APARTMENT IS INVOLED WITH COMPOSITE METAL DECK WITH CONCRETE FILL, STEEL FILTER BEAMS AND
GIRDERS MADE COMPOSITEBY USING STUD CONNECTORS.

CONSTRUCTION (GROUND FLOOR)
1. Composite slabs comprise reinforced concrete
cast on top of profiled steel decking, which acts as
formwork during construction and external
reinforcement at the final stage.
2. The decking may be either re-entrant or
trapezoidal.
3. Additional wire mesh may be placed in the decking
troughs, particularly for deep decking.
4. A shear stud connector is driven through the
profiled steel decking into the steel beam.

CANNOT OPENED AND CLOSED. THE PRESENCE OF MONO-PITCHED ROOF
MADE IT POSSIBLE FOR THE ARCHITECTS TO CREATE A LARGE
