This document provides instructions for Project 1 of an English and Journalism course. Students are asked to write a comparative analysis of a scientific article and its popular accommodation. The analysis should focus on the rhetorical moves of each piece and explain why rhetorical analysis of science communication is important. Students should find a scientific article and related popularization from sources like National Geographic or The New York Times. The analysis should separately break down the rhetorical moves of each piece and be at least 4 pages long. The project will be graded on analytical acuity, supporting evidence, organization, and writing fluency.
