CURRICULUM
Nang Khieu is committed to offering our students the most rigorous academic programs available. Our
curriculum is comprised of the general education component and the major. The general education
curriculum prepares students to become well-rounded and well-informed citizens. It is comprised of
classes in various fields of study, including:
Mathematics
Physics
Chemistry
Vietnamese Literature
English
Biology
History
Information Technology
Geography
Civics
Technology
Education of National Defense
While the general education is mandatory for both majors and non-majors, only major students are
required to complete additional hours in their major fields. Nang Khieu offers classes for the following
majors:
Mathematics Physics Chemistry
English Biology Information Technology
Vietnamese Literature
GPA AND GRADING SYSTEM
Our grading system uses a ten-point scale and does not give
weighted grades for major subjects, because we believe that all
subjects are important in developing well-rounded students. An
average grade point based on the student’s course work is
calculated for each student at the end of each semester and at the
end of the school year. We do not rank our students.
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Nang Khieu students are encouraged to be proactive. As a result,
they take the initiative to organize many events that benefit them
both academically and socially. Examples of noteworthy student
initiatives include the Robot Contest inspired by Robocon Vietnam,
and the Youth Camp (March), a school-wide camp that teaches
students about social responsibility. Some initiatives have grown
into the school’s traditions, such as the New Student Welcoming
Ceremony (August), Nang Khieu Book Fair (September), Student-
Teacher Dialogue (September), Teacher’s Day Celebration
(November), Spring Festival (January), and Graduating Seniors
Farewell Night (May). These activities enrich student life, teach
them important skills like leadership and teamwork, and strengthen
their relationships with one another as well as their connection to
Nang Khieu and to the Vietnamese community at large.
