Jee Yeon Park created the base for a light support project. They began by finding plywood of the correct size and marking out a circle using a compass. Park then cut out the circle with a coping saw and sanded it smooth with a disk sander, wearing goggles for safety. Creating the base took longer than expected but Park was able to catch up to the original project plan and finished the base in one class period. Park felt happy to complete this part of the project and thought enlarging the petal drawing would help with the next steps.

An immediate outcome of the final action plan was a synthesis paper presented to the “High Level Expert Forum: Addressing Food Insecurity in Protracted Crises” jointly convened by the Committee on World Food Security and FAO on September 13 – 14 in Rome, Italy.

Title: Making a base for my light support
What did I do?
Today, I continued to create my project.
When I first go into the workshop, I took out
my project from my box and began to make
another part for my project. Since I was
finished with the light support, I began to start
making the base of my light support. The
base of my light support was in plywood so I
had to look for plywood that had the exact
size of my base. When I got the exact size for

out with compass and a metal rule. The
compass helped me to draw an exact circle.
When I finished marking out the base, I
began to cut it with the coping saw. The
coping saw made it easier for me to cut the
lines of the circle. When I was done with the
cutting stage, I began to sand with the disk
sander. In order to prevent my eye from the
dust, I put on the goggle, I was safe enough
to be ready to work with the disk sander.
Since there was a lot of space to sand, it took
quite a long time for me to finish the process.
When I finished with the base, I began to think about how to draw the 12 petals. My final decision was to
enlarge the drawing and print it out. Then, this would help me to draw an easy out line.

done last Friday. However, I was able to finish creating the base by today, so I was able to catch up the
plan for my project.
Emotions
During this lesson, I felt very happy that I was able to finish making the base of the light support. By
using only one period, I was very proud of myself that I could finish it with good quality.

From today’s lesson, I was able to finish creating the base of the light support. I think I was a thinker
because I was able to think to enlarge the drawing of my petals and leaves. By doing this, I was able to
draw an outline on the wood easily. What is more, I think the lesson that I had today was related to
human ingenuity because I was creating the base of light support for my project.
