1. Remapping the Middle East Taichi G10
My concept of the political map in Middle East is to divide and make the all countries safety, but I also think about fairness to the all people. So basically, I picked most importance topics, which are ethnicity, religion and language to not against country to country.
First of all, I checked the religion in Middle East but I didn't really care about religion because most of them were same religion, which was Islam. However some of them were Christianity or Judaism. They all have stayed together; Judaism was in Israel and Christianity was in Lebanon. The people who were lived in Israel, they all spoke Hebrew and their ethnicity was Jews. And the people who were lived in Lebanon, they all spoke Arabic and their ethnicity was Arabs. That time a lot of Arabs were in the Middle East. But Arabs people in Lebanon had different religion. Probably it makes a conflict. So I left Lebanon same as 1920’s map.
The people who were lived in Iran, Afghanistan and some Turkmenistan spoke Persian and most of their ethnicity was Persians. They were ok to live together. I drew same map as 1920’s map in east of the Middle East. But I made Iran a little bit small because the people who were lived in Iran, Iraq and Turkey spoke Kurdish and their ethnicity was almost all Kurds. So maybe conflict might happen in Iran. To not make any civil war, I made a new country called Kurdistan. As I mentioned that I made Kurdistan next to Iran, which means I divided Iran and Turkey in half. The people who were lived in Iraq, they all spoke Arabic and their ethnicity was Arabs. And Turkish people in Turkey, they all spoke Turkish and half of Turkish had no ethnicity but rest of the half was Kurds. Again, to not make any civil war. That’s why I divided these countries (Iran, Iraq and Turkey) in half then made a new country (Kurdistan).
I also divided Saudi Arabia in half, which were called North Saudi Arabia and South Saudi Arabia, because many people had no religion and ethnicity that time in Saudi Arabia. North is for people had ethnicity and religion, South is for people had no ethnicity and religion. They could live safer now.
Finally, I made Jordan a little bit big. Jordan had no religion and Ethnicity; also part of Iran and Saudi Arabia had no religion and ethnicity, these areas were next to each other. I thought that I could these areas united to form one country.
Natural resources and natural features of geography were very important for my map. There were a lot of oil fields in the Middle East; it is very useful natural resource for the people in the Middle East. Before the map only few countries could get oil but I made a new country called Kurdistan and South Saudi Arabia. As a result more than 10 countries could get oils now. Which helps more people to alive in the Middle East.
