Title: Drilling holes on the base+stem
What did I do?
When I got into the workshop, I measured and marked out the size of the empty space that was in the
middle of the stem. This vacant space was used for putting the electrical wire. Then, I asked Mr.
Anderson to cut a piece of wood that was about the same size that would fit into the vacant space.
When I got the piece ready, I started to work on putting the stem and the base together. I took out the
cordless drill and different kinds of drill bits. I used a thicker type of drill bit to drill two holes at the back
of the base, while I used a thinner type of drill bit to drill two holes at the bottom of the stem. When I
finished drilling holes on the base and stem, I chose two screws to screw the base and stem. However,
there was a problem when I was screwing with screws. Since I drill the two holes to deep on the bottom
of the stem, it was difficult to screw in the screws. Thus, I had to ask help from Mr. Anderson to fix this
problem. He drilled a bigger hole on the base. This made it possible for the hole to go in with a longer
screw. However, because I didn't have enough time to screw on the stem, I couldn't be able to finish
screwing in today’s lesson
Changes in the gantt chart
There were no changes in the gantt chart and I was able to follow the time line that I have predicted
Emotions
During the lesson, I was rushing because I was so excited that I could finish putting all the parts
together. However, I could notice that I needed more time to complete this stage. I had to drill a hole
through the base and make the stick shorter so that I can put electric wire through the petals. By and
large, I was very pleased with the fact that I was almost finished with my project.
IB Learner Profile & AOI
From today’s lesson, I think I was inquirer because I was asking help from Mr. Anderson when I was
struggling with something. Also, I was a risk taker because I was able to overcome the situation that was
having problem with. Besides, I think this lesson was related to human ingenuity because I was
continuing to create my project.
