Digital Graphic Narrative Planning
Use this booklet to help structure your planning and collate your planning documents.
Considerations:
There are lots of things to consider in this project. Fill out each section in detail to show you have thought about each one. You
should imagine that this is a live project, so considerations like cost, quantity and codes of practice must be thought about in that
context rather than just as a college project.
Costs: There will be no costs involved in the production of my work.
Available resources: I will have available sources like paper, pens, pencils,
scanner, a computer, flash, Photoshop.
Quantity: I will start by selling my product on a small scale, releasing between
1000-2000 prints. If the book sells well I will look to print copies on a much larger
scale.
Audience and Target Market: I have aimed my audience at ages around 15
and below, with the intent that some children may read the book with there parents.
This is a suitable age as the story is very simple, and younger children will be able to
understand it and hopefully take something away from it. I didn’t aim my story at any
gender in particular, neither any social grade.
Quality Factors: There are a number of factors that could affect the overall
outcome of my work. Firstly, I need to use my time efficiently to ensure I create
everything I need. Secondly, my effort needs to be at its highest to ensure I can do
the best of my ability. Thirdly, My skill level could affect my work. If I don’t have the
skills needed to produce the work I have hoped for then I won't achieve what I
wanted. Finally, distractions could affect my work badly.
Codes of Practice: Codes of practice is a set of written regulations issued by
a professional association that issues how a particular profession should be carried
out.
Regulation: There wont be any regulations regarding my work,
Copyright: As my story is an old folk/fairy tale none of my work will be subject
to copyright. 50 years after the death of an author, the work becomes legal to use.
Ethical Issues: My work will not include any ethical issues, all my
representations of people will be presented in the same way which wont be harmful
to any race or religion.
Resources:
A successful project relies on good planning. Considering all the resources you will need for a project and then assessing which you already
have and which you need will help ensure you are ready to start your project.
If there is a resource you don’t currently have, then consider how you are going to get it before you go in to production.
Resource:
Do you have
it? What do you need to do to get it?
Computer Yes
Photoshop Yes
Scanner Yes
Pens Yes
Pencils Yes
Paper Yes
Production Schedule:
Delivering your project on time is vital. In order to do this, you need a solid plan of action. This will help you divide up your work in to
manageable chunks to be tackled one at a time. It will also allow you to plan which tasks need to be done in which order. It will also allow you
to track your progress each day. If you are falling behind, you will need to modify the way you work. If you work faster than expected, you can
clearly see what the next steps you need to take are.

Health and safety:
Your health and safety and that of those around you is very important. Just like in industry, an accident could prevent you from working. Whilst
we don’t work in a highly dangerous environment, there are still risks. Some are short term, such as trips and spillages whilst others, such as
long term damage to eyesight or back problems, may affect you much later in life.
Consider the risks based on the activities you will be undertaking during the project. Explain how you could prevent them from happening.
Ensure you reference appropriate pieces of legislation, design to protect people at work.
Health and Safety Issue How can you prevent it?
Wires, can cause a trip hazard.
Be aware of your surroundings as you wander the
classroom.
Staring at your computer screen for to long can cause
eye strain. Take regular breaks from the computer to rest your eyes.
As im constantly working with electrical equipment i need
to be catious with liquids. As a spillage could damage
technical equipment.
Make sure i dont bring any liquids apart from water into
the classroom. Also to make sure lids are on bottles and
out the way of technical equipment.
