4. PROPS & COSTUMES
PROBLEMS SOLUTION
Hat - My actor will need a hat to wear in my film however with it
being a somewhat unusual hat will make it difficult to find. Without
a confirmed cast, the hat may not fit my potential actors.
Hat – I will first locate my hat weather it be online or it be in a shop
and keep track on it till I confirm my actor. Then I will either
measure his head size or schedule a day out and try on different
hat sizes.

Trail cam – I will be using a trail cam within my film to take certain
images within my film. With it being something I have never used
before means I have no idea on how to use it. it might not work in
night vision which is a crucial aspect. I may not even get it to work
since it needs batteries or a technical issue occurs.
Out door attire – One of my roles has two potential actors with
one already owning the appropriate attire while my back up actor
doesn’t. This makes me unsure on if I should buy spare clothes
just in case my back up actor makes the role costing a lot of
money with it possibly being a waste.
Out door attire – similar to my hat problem I may have to locate a
costume and keep track until I find my actor. If I have to use my
back up actor I may have to limit myself on what I buy since I don’t
have the money. By limiting I mean by buying only shorts as my
back up actor has clothes that can be implied to be travelling attire.
He has attire such as timberland shoes that look very similar to
walking boots, a jacket that appears water proof and a suitable
bag. The jacket zipped up can cover what's underneath.
Trail cam – I will buy the device early so that I can get enough
practice before the film. Doing this will confirm if it works in night
vision. I will buy the acquired batteries along with it. If for whatever
reason it doesn’t work I will just use it as a prop rather than
actually capturing images with it. Instead I will take photos using
the cameras and Photoshop the photos to look night vision during
post.
Dead animals – my plan to make the dead animals is to use
realistic animal ornaments, red food coloring and red play-do. This
will only look realistic theoretically so I have no idea if it will be
effective. The animal props may not even be life size nor being
very posable.
Dead animals – like with the trail cam I will buy the items early
and experiment ways to make the dead animals. To ensure that
the animals are of proper size I will have to trust the
measurements online. If the animals aren’t posable I will brake off
pieces and use play-do and red food coloring to make it look like a
bent limb.

5. CAMERA & AUDIO
PROBLEMS SOLUTION
SD card – Since I personally don’t have an SD card I will have to
book one from the college. With the SD card available to the public
means an SD card will always be full of footage/images using
space. It will also be an issue if I fill the storage with bad takes. I
may even fill the storage with appropriate shots that I cant delete.
An SD card could even be damaged stopping my production as a
whole. The SD card is fairly small which can be a problem since it
is easy to lose.
SD card – soon after retrieving an SD card I will wipe the memory
early so that it wont be a hassle to do during production. To ensure
I still have enough storage I will book two SD cards so that I have
twice the amount. Whenever I take a bad shot it will be deleted
straight away. This will make organizing shots in post more easier
as well as allowing more storage. If the SD card brakes during
production I will definitely buy one to use and give to college. I will
always pack the SD card in the front camera bag pocket and triple
check at the start and end of the shoot so that I can confirm I
haven’t lost it.
Boom mic/audio recorder - I will be using the boom mic for
certain shots attached to an audio recorder. The boom mic has
batteries that drain quickly which will strain time during takes.
There can be issues with audio recorder not connecting properly
with the boom mic causing unwanted noise digital noise. Speaking
of unwanted noise, wind, rain and the chord rattling can interfere
ruining takes.
Battery – A battery for the DSLR cameras wont last my shoot
days which will stop and limit my shooting days. Since I will be
travelling to a far away forest will mean I wont be able to charge
the battery. Batteries a fairly small so it can easily be lost.
Battery – I will book a charger so that I can refill it with life before
each shooting day. Booking two batteries will hopefully last all day
but if not one of my casts can provide his battery as backup. I will
always pack the batteries in the front camera bag pocket and triple
check at the start and end of the shoot so that I can confirm I
haven’t lost it.
Boom mic/audio recorder – To save the battery life I will make
sure the mic is turned off whenever I am not using it. I will buy
spare batteries and use them for backup. I will have various tests
with the audio recorder with the mic to ensure that they work
without any interference. I will book a wind shield along with the
mic so that it suppresses the sound of wind and rain. I shall hold of
the chord so that it doesn’t rattle.
Camera sound – The camera is apart of the film so the sound that
the camera captures will be used for the film. With the camera
being moved around means it has to capture characters voices in
various distances. This means the volume of the characters will be
very mixed with the person behind the camera having the loudest
voice. This is a problem as isn’t comfortable to listen to.
Camera sound– To balance the voices I will try make sure that
the shots are cleverly placed with everyone in a comfortable range
to the camera. If this is too difficult, I may have to re-rerecord the
voices with an audio recorder or edit the voices during post
production.

6. LOCATION
PROBLEMS SOLUTION
Weather – with the whole film being set outside means we
will have to deal with the spring weather which isn’t very
predictable. It will surely be raining during the eater holidays
as well as it being very cold since we are only just coming
out of the winter. This may damage the equipment halting the
production. It could make the actors uncomfortable
preventing them to perform their best. This will making the
continuity difficult since rain can change the setting
drastically.
Weather – for my planning I will look into the weather
forecast and locate the sunny days and base my schedule on
those days. If the weather is cold I will make my actors warm
up and exercise before takes. I may have to buy umbrellas to
shield my equipment while shooting however this doesn’t fix
the continuity errors. I could adapt the rain into the film or
else we will have to wait it out.
Travelling – The forest that looks fitting to my setting is fairly
far away. This means I will need a form of transport to reach
my location. There are no buses that stop at the forest which
will limit my choices. Both my actors can drive however they
have to have to permission to borrow a car. Having my actors
take me means I will have to pay them adding to my budget.
There could be traffic which will shorten the scheduled
shooting days.
The dark – I am planning to shoot during the night which will
make production difficult and dangerous. This is because of
how dark it becomes within the forest making it hard to see.
This makes shooting challenging as I wont see my actors to
compose a shot. This is also a hazard since my actors can
easily trip and fall over objects.
The dark – I will be booking an LED light to attach to the
camera so the view of the camera is always lit. This will help
with composing takes. I will also buy head torches for each
cast member so that they can see and maneuver easily. This
will be adapted to the film as it will make sense. I will also
buy a powerful torch for myself so that I will be able to see
and direct everything.
Traveling – I may have to pick my back up actor for the role
since he has his own car or else ill have to schedule days
when my main actor can use his car. I could have my sister
giving lifts. I will save up money so that I can pay for the fuel.
There are three roots to my location so traffic should not be a
problem. We will set off very early I order to ensure that we
don’t get caught in traffic whatsoever.

7. HEALTH AND SAFETY

Make sure everything is visible by using various
torches and lights. Head torches for each cast
member.

have cover to protect equipment.
Liquid near equipment that can cause damage Keep liquids away from electrical equipment
Accidents and injuries Have a first aid kit or keep a phone in order to call an
ambulance.
Not sitting on the chair correctly which can cause

Looking at a computer too long which strains eyes. Make sure to take brakes every hour

8. EXPERIMENTS
PROPS &
COSTUME
DEAD ANIMALS I received my rabbit first and it came out to be how I
expected. It was the perfect size for my scene and
realistic enough to trick an audience. The prop wasn’t
posable at all however by following my solutions I
broke pieces off and reattaching them with play-do
making it look like a bent limb. I also broke a hole
though the rabbit and rolled red play-do to make it
look like intestines are seeping out. I then poured red
food colouring onto the intestines to appear as blood
giving a much more realistic effect. I then rubbed mud
and the food colouring all over the rabbits body
creating a messy battered look. The food colouring
also made the rabbit have a red tint making it look a
little more gruesome.
The next to arrive were my foxes however these came
out unexpectedly small. Since the scene consists of
many animals piled in one area meant the size of the
animals doesn’t matter as they will be hard to see in
detail. To make the pile appear bigger I reused my
rabbit prop implying it to be another rabbit. I followed
the same method to brake the props and posing them
to what I like. I also reused the same the play-do
within the rabbit and applied it to the foxes to save
money.

COSTUME I have confirmed my actor to be Ben Senior
which was my back up actor. This is because
my main actor was far too busy to make the
scheduled dates. This meant that I need to
buy the required attire for my actor. Luckily the
hat that I ordered fits perfectly on my actor
giving my ideal look. Since my actor has a
beard it fits well for the role since the character
is an adult. Since buying travelling attire is
expensive I limited myself and adapted to
what my actor already had. For example my
actor has timberland shoes that look very
similar to walking boots.my actor has a jacket
that looks like travelling attire. The jacket
covers what is underneath which means my
actor can wear what he wants. The only thing I
bought other then the hat are the shorts since
my actor didn’t have any practical trousers.
This makes the character look more athletic
and out going.

TRAIL CAM
I have received my trail cam and first decided
to test it out. It caused quite a hassle as I had
to have an SD card as well numerous
batteries. I had bought the batteries along side
with the trail cam and thankfully I had already
booked the college SD card. I tried my best to
get it to work however I couldn’t figure how to
use it. Since the trail cam arrived too close to
the shooting day means that there wasn’t
enough time to practice. Like with my solutions
I decided to just take the images with the
DSLR camera and Photoshopped it to look
night vision. To achieve this effect I firstly fully
de-saturated the image making it black and
white. The light in night vision are always
blown out so I increased the glow with the
diffuse light section in the filter gallery. To
further emphasize this effect I increased the
lens blur. I also used the filter gallery too add a
lot of grain to the image giving a low quality
look. I then made a channel mixer layer to
create the famous green night vision look.
