Pietroasele is a commune in Romania known for its vineyards. It became famous in 1837 with the discovery of the Pietroasa Treasury, composed of several pieces of gold and precious stones. The Pietroasele Treasure, an Ostrogothic hoard uncovered in 1837, is displayed at the National Museum of Romanian History and includes twelve surviving pieces such as a large eagle-headed fibula and sacrificial dish modeled with figures surrounding a seated goddess. Archaeological sites in the area include a Dacian fortress located 1.5 km north of Pietroasa Mică village and ruins of a third-fourth century Roman castra and thermae.
