Magazine 1 – SHADE
Advantages
 Clear and non-stretched photographs
 Recurring colour scheme
 Clear components of a magazine e.g. barcode, price, subscription offer
 Consistentand clear font used throughoutmagazine
Disadvantages
 Contents page a little bland - Could improvecontents list on contents
page with better font and maybe borders on photographs
 Grammar is not very professional –use of capitals on frontpage and
capitalisation for nouns
 Photos all quite similar – could usemore than one model to give a more
realistic impression as whole magazine looks to be based on one person
 Masthead not consistent – should usemasthead on contents page and
even in bottom corner of all other pages for consistency
Magazine 2 – TMR
Advantages
 Key magazinecomponents e.g. barcode, poster offers, date
 Consistentcolour scheme for cover and contents pages
 Good useof language for cover lines etc.
Disadvantages
 Stretched photos throughout – does not look professionaland could be
improved on Photoshop
 Photos frominternet used
 Constantchanges in font – lack of consistency looks unprofessional
 Colour scheme not continued on double page spread – could be from
totally differentmagazine
 Contents page untidy – all different sized photos and fonts, fontin bold
then not, basically messy.

 Alignment of contents page not consistent
 All cover lines only on one side of the cover
 Article lacking detail – could include more questions/detail in interview
to look more realistic
Conclusion
Frommy analysis of these three differentmagazines done by previous
students I will apply this to my own magazine. For my magazine I will ensureto
use a good consistent colour scheme and usenon blurred or stretched photos
with good edits to make my magazine look professional. I willkeep the
masthead and font consistent and also a good colour scheme. I will also keep
my magazinetidy and clean looking to make sureit looks realistic. My
magazine will also include all of the key components such as barcodeand issue
number. I will also use good grammar and useof language for cover lines, sub-
headings and my article/interview.
