Software Developer Productivity: What we know and how to make it betterTasktop
Everyone seems to want more software developed and produced faster. Yet simply ramping up the number of individuals able to produce software is not sufficient; it is also important to improve the productivity of the software developers. But, what is software development productivity anyway? When do software developers consider themselves productive? What friction exists in software development that lowers productivity? In this talk, Gail Murphy discusses recent studies about software development productivity from the eyes of developers and will suggest directions to improve software development productivity based on the daily activities of software developers. This talk includes joint work with T. Fritz (U. Zürich), A. Meyer (U. Zürich) and T. Zimmermann (Microsoft Research).

WEBINAR: How you can implement continuous delivery and deliver software fasterBelatrix Software
Every technical organization is looking to deliver faster, cheaper and with better quality. To help achieve this, increasingly organizations are turning to continuous delivery. Implementing continuous delivery means organizations can frequently adapt software to the needs of their users, improve customer satisfaction and boost business results.
In this webinar we were joined by quality assurance expert, Steven Winter, founder of GuerrillaQA, and Federico Tacchini of Belatrix, to examine, de-mystify, and provide a clear path towards continuous delivery and testing.
Scrum teams use burn down chart to represent/track the iteration progress, and the most common burn down chart is the time-based one. But when doing that our team got some problems, it's not accurate to use time-based burn down to represent the true velocity and the feature completion. We experienced the situation that the team-velocity was pretty good, which means team could "burn" enough hours, while we didn't DELIVER as many feature comparing with the burn down. This topic is a case study based on what we did trying to resolve our problems.
Check out this brief introduction of Scrum, the Agile Software Development Framework. This is just a high level introduction that is why there are only 10 slides. Please like and share if you find it useful.

Maintaining a lengthy task list with multiple deadlines, client requirements, and resources can be quite a tedious task.
Fortunately, you can replace your to-do lists and unreliable sticky notes with a more efficient, fool-proof alternative — a task tracker.

How Does MS Project Works 6- Task Controlling FactorsSHAZEBALIKHAN1

Yesterday Jan Jaap Cannegieter and I gave an amazing tutorial at the Agile testing days. In our full day tutorial we discussed the role of the test manager and how to add value in an agile environment.
We discovered that a test manager is operation at two interfaces. One is being that of a quality ambassador that shows the business and stakeholders how testing is done and how its progressing . On the other interface the test manager is enabling the team(s) to build quality into their deliverables. During this full day tutorial we deep dived on both aspects. We discussed the agile test strategy and investigated what activities we test managers undertake, what activities we find important and what is valued most by our stakeholder. You wouldn’t be surprised if we told you that there is a gap between both. Next we practiced with defining agile test plans at MVP and sprint level. And assessed other roles that test managers can adopt. We closed the full circle by concluding that extra activities might be added to our initial brainstorm results. The topic is truly alive. Not only did we have a full rum (we had an all-time conference record with the amount of attendees), during the day we had a lot of lively discussions and answered a lot of questions from the participants. We loved the participation of all in the room and believe we all had a good day.

5 Continuous Improvement Tools for Process SuccessKashish Trivedi
The process of continuous improvement begins with incremental enhancement. You’re on the right track if you’re thinking of minor tweaks. For example, lean production starts with fine-tuning the issue of waste. You initially make small changes to achieve that goal. Waste is anything that doesn’t add value to the process or the result.
Your journey of removing waste from a process begins with using a continuous improvement tool to create a strategy for your team. The strategy can be something as simple as upskilling.

Editor's Notes
Andrew’s notes:
For our user testing, we asked 8 Michigan students to test the basic features of Apptimization and then to provide feedback on those features based on (a) the feature’s importance to the app (b) how satisfied they were with the performance of the feature. We used a 1-5 scale, with 1 representing “nuisance” and 5 representing “must have.” We can see that the all the basic features we implemented were very important to the app and that users were fairly satisfied with the performance of each of the features. The feature that resulted in the most dissatisfaction was the automated scheduling, for reasons we’ll see shortly.
We isolated a couple of the most frequent recommendations made by our users and came together to discuss how we can improve the Apptimization Assignment Manager according to their feedback. Here we present three of the most commonly cited issues and our proposed solution.
…
Now, these last two fixes can be handled without any changes to the visual portion of the user interface, but the first requires us to modify the visual component of the app itself. Let’s take a look at how our app will change visually.
