This document discusses and defines several portable electronic devices including mobile devices like smartphones and tablets, portable DVD players which allow watching DVDs on the go, portable media players that store and play digital media, GPS which provides location data via satellites, and handheld computers with small screens and keyboards that are powered for mobile use. These devices made entertainment and information access more portable and mobile.

2. Mobile devices :
-Handheld or notebook-sized
devices that can be used to
store or send information, or
connect to the Internet.
Examples include
smartphones, PDAs, tablets,
etc.

3. Portable DVD players:
-were created in order to aid
the ability to watch DVDs
away from home. They were
created in 1998, first
introduced by Panasonic.
They are practical for on the
go use, and many perform
secondary functions such as
playing music from audio
CDs and displaying images.

4. Portable media player:
-is a consumer electronics device
that is capable of storing and
playing digital media such as
audio, images, video. The data is
typically stored on a hard drive,
micro drive or flash memory. In
contrast analog portable audio
players play music from cassette
or records.

5. The Global Positioning System (GPS):
- is a space-based Satellite navigation system that provides
location and time information in all weather conditions,
anywhere on or near the earth where there is an
unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.
The system provides critical capabilities to military , civil and
commercial users around the world.

6. Handheld computers:
-Have small screens and keyboards. • used where
power cannot be relied upon. • Example: PDA. •
Used by people whose job requires them to be
travelling a lot . Advantages Disadvantages Can be
used away from the Difficult to enter much text .
