Types of satellite
1- Natural satellite
Moon
Types of satellite
2- Artificial satellite
Built by people and launched by rockets into
space, they orbit around the Earth.
Types of satellite
2- Artificial satellite
It is used to :
a) Communication
Like broadcasting T.V programmes, telephone calls
b) Collecting information to help with weather
forecasts.
c) Map making
Space telescope
Collects information about the planets and
stars.
Space probes
They do not orbit the earth. They travel to
other planets to collect scientific information.
Some space probes orbits around other
planets, some land on them
• The Space Race was a 20th-
century (1955–1972) competition
between two Cold War rivals, the
Soviet Union and the United
States, for supremacy (superior)
in spaceflight capability
There are other objects orbiting the sun
Comet Asteroid
There are other objects orbiting the sun
Very small objects in space.
When it enters the Earth’s atmosphere
When it hits the Earth’s surface
Stars form immense group called galaxies
A galaxy can contain many millions of stars.
Solar system
Our Galaxy is called Milky way galaxy
My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up
Naming
Mercury
1- Made up of rocks
2- Closest planet to the sun
Venus
1- Made up of rocks
2- Most beautiful planet
3- Second planet from the sun
Earth
1- Earth and Venus are almost the same size.
2- Right distance away from the sun, so it is not
too hot nor too cold.
Mars
1- It is the red planet
2- Half the size of earth
Jupiter
1- Largest planet in the solar system
2- Made up of gases
Saturn
1- Has 9 rings of ice and dust around it.
2- Made up of gases
3- Second largest planet in the solar system
