INFORMATION
I wanted to explain overall the reasoning of design, layout and target audience of
my final production, for you to gain a clear explanation. From research I clarified
that there is not a music magazine on the market that is targeted mainly towards
young females. NME and Q are aimed more towards males due to the harsh red
and black house colour scheme and the rock genre of the features and magazine
on a whole.
This aspect gave me the idea to create a magazine of this genre and target
audience. From conversations with my focus group which included young females
aged between 16/17. I found that they have a love for style magazines, and are
most enticed to this particular genre. I decided to join the two genre of magazine
together in order to engage with young females. I decided to look at style
magazines such as company and Nylon to gain ideas for design, colour and
layout.
From first glance of my magazine you you would think it was a style magazine
only, however within each feature is musical based and instruments were included
in the images to add to the music genre. I felt this collaboration of both Music and
Fashion was the best way to appeal to young females, as well as creating a new
concept within this market.
