The document discusses how a music magazine represents 16-20 year old females who enjoy pop music. It aims to provide information about pop artists and bands. The target audience listens to popular radio stations and follows fashion trends. Photographs in the magazine feature a model dressed in bright, youthful clothing inspired by pop artists like Jessie J and Rihanna, to appeal to and represent the target audience.

{ QUESTION 2
2. I aimed my music magazine at 16-20 year old females who
enjoy the pop music genre and want to find out more about
the artists and bands within this genre.
Typical females within this audience would listen to the charts
and a mainstream radio station such as Capital. They would
also keep with the latest fashion trends that seem to be in all
the shops and perhaps copy the style of a few of the artists of
the pop genre.
3. The images I have included in my work
are of a girl who looks 17 or 18, dressed
confidently in bright colours with a lot
of make-up. All her photos look fun
and light hearted and this is a way of
representing the target audiences youth
and spontaneity. I have posed her using
inspiration from other female younger
artists in this genre, for example Jessie J
and Rihanna. Her poses convey
confidence and happiness which is
stereotypical of younger people as they
have less to worry about and are able to
enjoy life. My target audience will
recognise the clothes worn and the
style that the model is dressed
in, mainly because they are from high-
street brands and stylish of modern
day fashion. This will help the target
audience relate to the model and
perhaps encourage them to buy the
magazine. Her facial expression is fun
and cheeky, again, relating to the target
audience and persuading them to buy
the magazine.
4. My photos don’t really have a
mise-en-scene as they are all in a
studio against a white
background. Therefore the only
relation my target audience can
make with the double page
spread image is the model and her
pose and clothing. Again, these
are typical of the target audiences
fashion and, in the real image, her
jacket and headband and lipstick
are all bright colours and
therefore conveying the fun
attitude that is stereotypical of
this female age range and the
music produced from the pop
genre.
5. This is a pop magazines double
page spread, aimed more
towards 13-16.
I haven’t really done anything different to other
representations within my magazine genre. The only
thing I perhaps did slightly different was the way I
have edited my double page spread. With pop

the dominant about my social group
I am targeting. I have created a
realistic representation through the
use of my images and colours. Their
age is represented through what is
featured in the magazine and
magazine content, the photos, the
clothes and the colours. I haven’t
done anything different to other
representations within the pop
music genre and therefore I am
supporting the ideology of this
social group throughout my
magazine. If I wanted to further
represent my target audience I
would add a mise-en-scene relating
to the hobbies and interests of my
social group.
